A/N: I will probably only do Nathan as the other POV. I haven't decided whether I will do Lance or not yet! Also, Wattpad changes the formatting differently even when I try to keep it the same! I'm on a roll and if you haven't already, check out the audio version of the prologue! Chapter 1 will be up soon! Also, sorry if this chapter seems a bit boring! The coronation is the next chapter! Also, sorry! The chapters keep coming out short on Wattpad! I'm not sure why! I'll work on making them longer!!

Chapter 4: MTA

Sarah's POV

I paced the room incessantly after Lance walked out and I wasn't sure why I was so on edge. There was something lurking in the recesses of my mind, something that I couldn't quite put my finger on. It could have been because my mind was overloaded with all of this information that I still didn't understand. There was the simple fact that Lance, Lilly and Nathan were all wolves as well as other people that I had yet to meet. Then, there was the whole destined to be together forever thing that Lance hadn't explained to me at all.

I still didn't know how I felt about Lance; he was an enigma that I wasn't sure I wanted to figure out. There were two sides of him, both of which I had already seen and I couldn't figure out which one of those was the real him. It was like this facade that he put up in order to keep people away and that scared me. Who was the real Lance? Was he the Lance who had made me pass out only hours ago or the one which I had just encountered?

I looked up at the thought of time and gasped, realizing that I had no idea what time it was. If it was already passed three, then David would be stressing out that I hadn't come home from school yet. I had no idea how long I had been out nor how long these people intended to keep me here. There was no clock in sight and I groaned when I was fully aware at the very fact that I wasn't going to be given my phone back. It was like kidnapping without the actual kidnapping.

I stopped in the middle of my pacing of the floors when Nathan opened the door. He grinned at me and waved before walking over to me, an amused glint in his eye. "Hey, Chuckles! Is all of the tension gone now? Can we be friends again?"

"I was just told that this town has a bunch of werewolves living amongst humans, it's a lot to process."

"You're not calling us dogs anymore so I would say that's a good sign."

"What time is it, anyways?" I queried, changing the subject as I walked back towards the bed and sat down. "How long was I out? Where did Lance go?"

"You were out for two hours," Nathan glanced at his watch and then came to sit on the edge of the bed. "So, it's currently only 10 and Lance is in his office. He had a lot of things to take care of."

Things to take care of? I wasn't sure what Nathan meant as everything was still rather confusing to me. It was obvious that I couldn't go home and while I had read a ton of werewolf books in my lifetime, it wasn't enough to understand anything. The wolves from Twilight was as far as my understanding went and Lance had already told me that mates and imprints weren't the same. So, how were they different and how did they compare? How did the wolves change so easily? Did it hurt? Did they travel in packs? So many questions left unanswered and I had no idea what to do.

"You were different before," I told Nathan as I eyed him, warily. I was brought out of my reverie as I realized how different Nathan had been earlier. "You were laughing and joking and now suddenly you're serious and to the point."

Nathan laughed, "sorry, Chuckles. Especially for earlier....I didn't mean to use that sort of command on you. It's just...the world can't find out about us and I needed to make sure that you understood that."

"How come I wasn't able to move and I did exactly what you told me?"

"I'm the Beta of this pack and that means that I have the authority to do whatever I need in order to protect this pack. That's why the command worked on you, even though you're human. My job is to make sure that there is no threat to my pack."

"Beta?" I frowned and then shook my head. "So, I'm a threat?"

"That's not what I meant, Chuckles!" Nathan smiled and then ran a hand through his hair as he tried to make sense of wherever his thoughts were going. It didn't seem like he had any plans on answering my first question, either. This place had too many secrets and I felt that they owed it to me to explain what was going on but they kept refusing.

Nathan continued, "In order to make you see reason and not leave here to discuss what you saw, I used a command on you. It won't happen again though, I assure you."

"You didn't want me to tell anyone about what I saw," I stated and then sighed. I looked at my hands as I tried to piece together what Nathan meant. "I'm not even sure I believe what's real and what isn't anymore."

"I understand," Nathan was still smiling but there was something else lingering in his eyes. "It's going to take awhile to adjust to the idea that the supernatural creatures that you read in books actually exist."

"Please tell me that no one is going to shift in front of me again," I groaned at just the thought of it.

Nathan laughed, "maybe just Lance."

I looked at him, horrified.

"I'm kidding, I'm kidding!" Nathan held his hands up, a smirk still playing at his features. "Well, I'm not actually but I doubt anyone will change in front of you unless you're absolutely ready for that."

"What about Lilly?"

"Lilly doesn't like to shift but I'm not at liberty to say why. That's her story to tell and maybe one day she will tell you. She really likes you Sarah and Lilly doesn't have a lot of friends." Nathan's eyes suddenly darkened and if I didn't already know he was a wolf, I would be terrified by just the look in his eyes.

I nodded as I took a deep breath and swallowed my sudden fear. "I like her too and I want to be her friend but this is all a lot to process. I still feel like I'm dreaming. For some reason, Lance seems to make all of my concerns disappear."

"Er, well..."

"He said it's because I'm his mate but I don't know what that means."

"That would be my cue to leave!" Nathan bit his lip and took several steps away from me. "I'm sure that Lance will explain all of that to you eventually! I just came back in here to tell you that you can go home in a few hours. In fact, Lance has already called your brother-"

"How does Lance know David?" I stood up and the relief at actually being able to go home was setting in. "I can go home?"

"Yes, David is on his way now but you guys aren't leaving immediately." Nathan walked back to the door and opened it just as Lilly came in. "I'll let Lilly explain and as for how Lance knows David," Nathan shrugged and walked through the door. "You'll have to ask him that."

"So many secrets!" I called after him and his laugh echoed through the hall.

Lilly looked at me with a raised eyebrow and I rolled my eyes. "Your boyfriend is very secretive, he doesn't answer any of my questions."

"Oh," Lilly bit her lip and then she took a hesitant step forward. "Listen, about earlier....I'm sorry. I know that this is all a lot to process and I wasn't trying to keep secrets! It's just....you're my first friend and I don't really know how that works! Usually-"

"It's okay," I told Lilly softly. "Just....explain everything to me. Can you do that?"

"Absolutely!" Lilly grinned and held up her hands. "No more secrets! Nathan might be bound to keep secrets but you're my friend and my Luna. I will tell you whatever you want to know."

"What's a Beta?"

"A Beta is basically the second in command. Packs are formed in hierarchy, sort of like a government. You have the leader which is the Alpha, then there's the Beta and the Thetas and then finally the Omegas-"

"Okay, slow down. I need to process everything. The Alpha is the leader, then there's the Beta? So it's like the President and the Vice President?" I queried as I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Yeah, that's a good analogy. Lance is our President and Nathan is the Vice President. So, technically if something happens to Lance or if he has to leave town on business, Nathan would be left in charge. Lance isn't actually Alpha yet though—his coronation is tomorrow. A coronation is a fancy term for his father handing him the title."

"Lance is the Alpha?" my voice had probably reached another octave as my heart began to pound in my ears. I could barely process that werewolves were real, let alone, Lance being the leader of them all. I had yet to figure out what our connection was but I knew that whatever this soulmate thing meant, it was important. Lance was still a mystery and everything was just overwhelming.

"Let's talk about something else," I muttered as I took a deep breath through my nose. I was ignoring the fact that I was curious about what this coronation event was.

"Sure," Lilly clapped her hands and then jumped up and down like an excited child. "I have to get you ready for the coronation anyways! Lance wants you there and your brother will be here soon! He's bringing you something to wear. Oh, he knows all about the werewolf world so you don't have to hide anything from him!"

David knew? What else did he know about that he wasn't telling me? The hurt that erupted from that knowledge outweighed anything else. Even though he was my older brother, he was also my best friend.

I pushed the hurt away as I eyed Lilly with a horrified look. "I'm going to this coronation? So I have to see all these wolves get together in order for Lance to become their leader?"

"Er," Lilly hesitated and bit her lip. "Yeah, basically."

"What do you mean, basically?"

"Sarah, I did tell you that I would answer all of your questions but I really think that this is something that Lance should tell you."

"What is it with you people and all of your secrets? My brother has also been keeping secrets from me and I just don't understand!"

"I know it doesn't make sense right now, but it will! Just give Lance time to get through this! He's been preparing for this day for a long time, and-"

"How do I know that he will even explain anything to me? The first time that I met him, he wolfed up and I passed out. My second meeting with him, he was like a completely different person! He was nice to me and he actually seemed to care! How do I know that our next meeting will be good?"

"He has a bit of a temper and he didn't know you were human-"

"Ugh!" I plopped down on the bed and placed my hands over my eyes. "This is annoying."

"Listen," Lilly said softly and I heard her voice getting closer to where I was. "I will make sure that Lance has a long conversation with you after the coronation. But, for now....can you just cooperate and allow me to help you get ready?"

I didn't answer her as I thought through her words. If I got another chance to talk to Lance, I was going to make sure that he explained everything to me. There was no way that he could just tell me that werewolves existed, call me his soulmate and then expect to just walk away.

"Fine," I grumbled as I sat up. "But only because I have no choice."

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Kane stood with two guards by his side as he exited the plane, in Eureka, California. Sarah was here and he was finally going to get his justice for the kidnapping of his one and only daughter. The meeting with Alpha Ducati had gone just as Kane had planned it. He was going to pretend that he knew nothing even though he knew everything. The only way for him to protect Sarah and to follow through on his plan to get her back, was to act innocent. Alpha Ducati, Sam, was an evil man and Kane was going to make sure that he went down for the evil things he had done.

Now that he was finally in California, his first order of business was going to be to find Lance and explain everything. Ever since Kane had been able to get in touch with Sarah, he'd been able to see into her thoughts. He knew what was happening and that she had just been exposed to the world that he was a part of. Lance was her mate and therefore, besides himself, he was the only one who could protect her.

"Have you gotten in contact with Stevenson?"

"Yes, sir. The Alpha is on his way now," Thomas told Kane as he flipped his cell phone closed.

"Lance or his father?" Kane questioned as he crossed his arms.

"His father," Thomas squeaked out as he swallowed his fear. "Lance isn't technically Alpha until tomorrow and therefore, his father has the ultimate decision. Lance has a lot of things to take care of and-"

"Enough," Kane held up his hand and strode towards the car waiting to pick them up. "I will speak to Lance's father myself and we will go from there."

"It's almost time now, Sarah," Kane muttered as he got into the car and breathed a sigh of relief.
