Leah's POV February 15 8:00
I woke up the next morning and I got up early so that I could make us breakfast. Just something little to say thank you for the amazing day we had yesterday
"Morning baby." He whispers in my ear. It takes my by surprise and I immediately react jumping away from him. I breath deeply as I feel my anxiety slowly creeping in, trying to keep myself from having a flashback.
"Breathe calm down count to ten," Luke says as he slowly rubs my back and pulls me into a hug.
"It's okay, it's just me. You are safe. He is not here," he repeats in my ear as I try to stop my heart from racing.
"Lean on me. Do you feel like you are going to pass out?" He asks as he supports me, basically stopping me from falling to the ground.
I shake my head as the room slowly stops spinning and I begin to catch my breath.
It's over. I tell myself again and again. My anxiety and PTSD seem to always take me by surprise, this is the first attack I have had in months. The story leading to them one I am not ready to share.
"Thank you. I'm okay now," I say as I move my head so his lips connect with mine.
He nods and kisses my head.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" He asks as he patiently waits for me to catch my breath.
I just place my head in his chest. "I got a shock and it took me back," I reply. "I'm sorry baby. I didn't mean to do that," he replies. "It's okay, you didn't know it would trigger me. We are still getting used to being so close to one another and we have to figure out the dynamics of how this is going to work," I say. He nods his head in response.
"What you making?" He asks as he wraps his arms around my neck and pears down at the food.
"Pancakes," I say as I flip one of then in the pan revealing a burnt side. I sigh taking it out of the pan. "Well trying," I add as I walk to the trash can to throw it away.
Hayley had told me multiple times that pancakes were his favorite.
"My favorite, how did you know?" He asks as places a kiss on my head.
"A little birdie told me." I say smirking at him
"Did you enjoy your Valentine's Day?" He asks as he walks around the counter and sits on a stool on the other side.
"I sure did. It was the best I have ever had but only because I spent it with you." I say as I lift my head slight so my brown eyes meet his.
My mom called a little later we spoke for awhile but after that Luke asked me a question I have been dreading since I arrived.
"Hey baby, I've met your whole family but you never speak about your friends."
Luke knows almost everything about me except for one thing. When I was a kid I had some serious issues with my body image and my weight I didn't always have my now figure. It was tough I was constantly make fun of and bullied by the other kids. I didn't have many friends and the friends I did have didn't last very long only my best friend Sophie. To cope with the bullies I buried myself in books and studied my ass off.
I soon realized that people can be very fake because as soon as I lost the weight and pubity hit, everyone wanted to be my friend and all the guys my boyfriend. It made it hard for me to trust people and I kind of just kept everyone out and threw myself into the books to avoid trouble.
"I um don't really have many friends." I say looking at the beach out of the window while I still lie on the couch wrapped in his arms.
"Yeah right, a beautiful girl like you was probably the most popular person in the school," He says as he plays with my charm bracelet.
I sigh
"That's the thing Luke I didn't always look like this. As a kid I was seriously overweight and being a huge nerd didn't help. Nobody wanted to be my friend and those that did either moved away or moved on. I lost the weight and gained my figure and confidence back only to find out you can't trust people because as soon as the weight came off every girl wanted to be my friend and every guy my boyfriend. Since then I have had serious trust issues. You are the first person I have trusted since then," I retaliate hoping that he won't think any differently of me.
"Ah Leah I never knew I ..." He starts but I interrupt him sick of the pity.
"Its fine nobody knows really. It is in the past." I say as I move off him and walk to the small bench by the window.
"I'm so sorry." He says moving so he sits next to me.
"Don't be. I'm okay now, really. I have never been more happy then when I am with you." I say honestly as I look out the window trying to avoid eye contact.
"I wish you never had to go through all those things. You are such a great person on the inside." He says as he places his hand on top of my fidgeting one.
"Everyone goes through things for a reason if it weren't for my struggles I wouldn't be who I am today." I say as I move slightly closer to him.
"I love you baby." He says as he runs a hand through my long, brown hair.
"I love you too Luke." I say looking up at him.
Alex's POV February 15 12:00
The boys decided that they wanted to go to the game so Leah, Haley and I were relaxing in the den.
"Great boyfriends they are just leaving us at home." Haley says with a chuckle.
"Yeah we should go out and do something." I say as I look at Leah
"Don't look at me I barely know how to get to my new apartment." Leah says causing us all to laugh.
"Alex is right why don't we go down to the nail salon and get lunch." Haley suggests as she fiddles with her necklace.
"Sounds great." Leah says as she jumps off this sofa and heads toward the door.
"I'll drive" I say as I follow her out.
We get in the car and arrive at the nail salon.
"I can't remember the last time I came here." I say as I walk through the doors into the salon.
"I cant remember the last time I got my nails done." Haley says with a smile.
"I have never had my nails done." Leah says drinking her coffee.
"Wait what!" Haley says shocked as she turns to Leah.
"Really never!" I say quite surprised. I mean she was a pretty girl she was probably the popular one in school the ones constantly going for makeovers and shopping.
"Did you not go with your friends?" I ask as we walk to our seats.
She chokes on her coffee and stiffens at my words.
"Oh my gosh is something wrong." Haley asks as Leah coughs.
"Oh ah, no it's just I didn't have many friends growing up." Leah says once she catches her breath, while playing with her charm bracelet. Making sure she doesn't make eye contact.
"Wait what? you? no way." Haley says as she picks the color for her nails.
"Yeah, a girl like you would thrive in my school." I add Rolling my eyes at the stupid hierarchy that is a high school.
"Yeah I didn't always look like this." She says still looking at her coffee.
Me and Haley kind of just look at each other not knowing what to say or do.
"Um, I didn't know that I'm sorry." Haley finally says ending the awkward silence that seemed to appear .
"No really it's fine I'm over that it's in the past." Leah says as she finally looks away from her coffee and makes eye contact.
"If you don't mind me asking, what happened?" I state hoping I didn't push her boundaries.
"No, it's fine I can tell you." She says before telling us about her past. I was kind of shocked. You would never say by what she is like now.
"Wow!" Haley says clearly as shocked as I am. Leah just slightly smiles at her and nods.
We talked for a while after that but we kind of just moved past the subject and had fun. We left the salon and headed to the coffee shop across the street.
"Thanks for the nails by the way." Leah says looking at her nails.
"It's a pleasure I get them free with Nerp." Haley says with a giggle.
We all laugh.
"Hey Haley were you Luke's connection that got us into that super fancy restaurant yesterday." Leah says as she smiles slightly at Haley.
"Yeah." She says with a laugh.
"It was really great, thanks by the way." She says as she walks from the counter and over to a table.
"You got them into Fernando's, wow!" I say. That place is very nice and very exclusive, but at the same time it is super pricey.
"What did you guys do for Valentine's Day?" Leah asks as she breaks a piece off her muffin.
"Bill and I went to our favorite restaurant and then I stayed at his place." I say happily remembering the very romantic setting that was last night.
"Well Dylan and I had a picnic in the park and then just chilled at home and discussed baby names." Haley says looking at her belly.
"What about you and Luke?" I ask curios as to what my brother does when he is trying to be romantic.
"Oh ah he took me to a private beach which was just beautiful and then we went to Fernando's, the food was great and then we uh ... we stayed over at a holiday home on the private beach." She says playing with her bracelet and smiling widely as she does.
"Ah that's so sweet I remember Dylan and my first valentines. He never did anything that romantic." Haley says as she takes a bite of her cake.
"I'm sure Luke does this for all his girlfriends." Leah says as she pecks at her muffin, her smile fading slightly as she does.
"Leah, you are one of Luke's first girlfriends and he has never loved or liked anyone like he does you." I say as I try to reassure her.
"Really I always assumed a smart and sweet guy like him would... oh my god I'm assuming like everyone does with me." She says as she places her head in her hands. Clearly embarrassed.
"You two are so cute and I promise you two have something special I've never seen him light up like he does when he is with you." Haley says still looking at her belly.
"When are you due?" Leah asks looking at Haley's belly.
"Oh ah July 22." Hayley says.
"No way!" Leah shouts probably a bit too loud.
"What?" Hayley says laughing.
"That's my birthday." Leah says with a giggle.
We all laugh
"Well they better wait her turn then." Haley says with a laugh making Leah and I laugh.
"If they look anything like her mom they are lucky babies," Leah says as she smiles at a blushing Haley.
"Thanks but right now I kind of just look like a beached whale," Haley reply's as her smile fades slightly and she sighs.
"Oh please you are so beautiful, you will always be the pretty one." I say rolling my eyes.
"Yeah, you are growing not one but two tiny humans. You are a goddess nevermind a whale." Leah says.
"But I would give anything to be as smart as you two." Haley says as she looks sadly at us.
"You know what you two are smart and sweet and kind. You should never feel otherwise and I am so thankful for the both of you and how you accepted me even though you barely knew me," Leah says as she looks at Haley.
"Ah thanks Leah, but you are like my second little sister." Haley says as she places a hand on top of Leah's to acknowledge how she feels.
"Yeah you are like my little sister, you are basically already apart of our crazy modern family." I say as I place my hand on top of Haley's to show my support.
