I succumb to the spiral.
It pulls me down-- it is a whirlpool with no end.
I struggle, but I already know it's hopeless.
Struggling only makes it worse.
Like quicksand I sink, at the mercy of an invisible force.
I want to scream, but my voice is already far to hoarse.
Strings have tied my hands behind me,
There is darkness for as far as I can see.
The air has been replaced with desolation.
Still, I do not know my destination.
Could this go on forever? I wonder.
How could I have made such a blunder?
I see lights, but they offer no solace.
They blankly stare at me: aweless.
The hole pulls me even farther in.
Going deeper and deeper than I've ever been.
