Chapter 13: My Decision

I was completely lost that whole day. Caroline and Jonah where having a normal happy day as I sat there motionless and confused. I sat in the middle of Caroline's bright light living room with floral wallpaper and fancy nice decorated furniture. The truth about Caroline she was actually one of the richest kid at school and Jonah and me where the only one's who knew about it. I sat on the floor in front of her light brown shinny coffee table where her mother left chocolate biscottis on the center of the table for us. Jonah sat right across from me where Caroline sat beside me with many books out on the table. She placed her head on the books complaining about she couldn't understand anything from the text book. Jonah just ate as I sighed and said,

“Come on Caroline, your not even trying to solve the problem. Here I'll give you an example.”

I wrote down a problem on a white piece of paper where she looked down at it as I solved the problem with a explanation. She sighed and kept asking questions where I found myself repeating everything all over again. I sighed as I looked down at Caroline who looked sorry and depressed. I placed my hand over the written problem and said,

“How about a break?”

She lifted her head from the table and smiled with relief. Jonah then said,

“Let's play a game.”

“What game?” I said as Jonah then stood and dusted himself off.

He brushed the biscottis crumbs off his shirt and walked up to Caroline where he grabbed her hand to pulled her put to her feet.

“Lets play truth or dare.”

“Don't you think that's to childish.” said Caroline where she looked back at me where I then said,

“I think it would be better if we had a little more people.”

“Then call Nathan. He's been outside mopping for the longest time. I swear that boy needs some action, and I plan to give it to him if he only asks.” said Jonah with a sassy smile and one eyebrow raised.

I laughed where Caroline then smiled shyly and nodded at me. I sighed as I then stood and walked out to Caroline's backyard. I walked out of the living room to her kitchen that was as big as her living room. White cabinets sat all around the walls of the kitchen white grey granite counters and fresh polished shinny pine wood flooring. For my dad it was a gold mine. I passed the kitchen and walked up to a glass slide white door where I then looked out through it and saw a large long fresh green grass everywhere. Rose bushes, and a oak tree sat on the perimeter of the yard. A small stone fountain with fish sat at the very back next to the rose bushes. I found Nathan sitting on the grass leaning again the large oak tree. I opened the door and stepped out to the grass. My feet slid over the grass making small brushing sounds. I walked to the back and leaned against the oak tree on the other side from where Nathan was sitting.

He seemed not to notice me and sat there staring out into space. He was looking at the fountain that sat in front of him a few feet away. I sighed where I then sat on the grass and said,

“You know we all want to be part of this study group. Jonah keeps asking about you and Caroline is worried about you.”

I looked back to him. He didn't even move. He sat there quite and depressed. My temper was rising like just like the time we fought, and I mean physically. I sighed again trying hard to relax and cool myself down.

“We all care about you Nathan. Why don't you just come back inside and have some fun?” I said looking back at him where he just turned his head away from me.

I placed my legs up to my chest where I slouched my head onto my knees. I wrapped my arms around my legs and felt a great deal of pain and sadness fall over me. I then looked down at me mother's pendant and noticed it glowing. I wanted to cry, I couldn't help but feel such a horrible feeling of sadness and agony in my heart. I then gripped my pendant and realized that I was beginning to feel what he was feeling. What a horrible feeling, it was to much for me to handle. As I gripped that pendent the feeling calmed just a bit but not much.

“Nathan, please stop this.” I said as warm tears began to blur my vision.

I didn't feel myself crying, but I was. I felt the pain and sadness grow where I then yelled out,

“STOP!” My tears fell off my face like rain drops.

I suddenly heard leaves break and brushing of grass. I knew Nathan stood he walked up to the tree and began to walk back to the door where I yelled out,

“Stop thinking that your so tough!! Your not!!”

He stopped walking. I trying hard to stand, but all I managed to do was fall back on my knees and sob like a lost child with no hope. It was like a cry from hell. I throw my hands on the grass where I gripped the grass to hold back my tears. I cried out,

“Why don't you ever let anyone in?!! Why do you keep hiding, why?”

The more I spoke the more I cried. I wasn't crying for me, I was crying for him. I guess I really was his twin if I could feel his emotions. I heard fait steps. I couldn't tell if Nathan was leaving or walking toward me. I tried to pull myself back up to sit, but before I did a warm hand rest on my back. I sucked in air, the scent of wine.

“My dearest Lia, it seems that your Nathan is nothing more, but a liar.”

My eyes flew opened. I sat up straight as I then looked up and noticed Sebastian knelt down beside me. I looked back at the door where I found Nathan facing us with a serious sad expression.

“Lia get away from him now!”

I looked back at Sebastian who just shook his head and looked up at Nathan then back to me. He leaned closer to me and kissed me on my cheek. He then said softly,

“Have you heard of the Vampire Parents?”

I shook my head as he whipped mt tears way with is hands and spoke with the most mesmerizing look that kept me on the edge of falling to far of my cliff into his arms.

“They are the parents of us vampires. Our Adam and Eve to make it clear. They are the ones who created what us Vampires like to call Warm Souls.”

I looked at him with the most confusion. He smiled and said,

“It's simple. These Warm Souls are people who believe in equality and unity, to put it bluntly they are people who believe that Vampires and Humans should live together in harmony.”

“Together?” I said as I then looked at Nathan who clenched his hands into fists.

“Your mother Lia, was a Warm Soul. Yours too Nathan.”

Nathan eyes widen in shock. He took a step back where he then looked down in confusion. He looked up at Sebastian and said,

“Your lying!! She was a hunter why would she. . .”

“Think about it Nathan,” said Sebastian as he then stood where I noticed the sky was turing gold and orange, “She had that pendant, she served a Vampire, your a Blade child.”

Nathan shook his head where my heart began to pound like crazy. My chest hurt and I was beginning to gasp for air. Sebastian then turned to me and bent down beside me and said with worry,

“Lia are you alright.”

Before I could say anything Sebastian took hold of my pendant and said,

“No, she gave it to you.”

I looked up to him where his handsome pale face looked worried and shocked.

“Your a Blade Child.” he then looked back at Nathan and stood quickly. He began to walk up to Nathan where Nathan just stood there glaring at him.

“You baster! Enough with the damn silly emotions.” Nathan didn't move and the next thing I knew Sebastian punched him right across the face where I gasped.

Nathan still stood and looked away from him. Sebastian threw another blow where Nathan then fell to the ground.

“Can't you see your hurting her!!” said Sebastian where he then kicked Nathan in the stomach where he yelled.

I then heard Caroline and Jonah yell out. I looked up at the glass door and saw them both standing there in shook. Caroline looked from me to Nathan and Sebastian. Jonah gasped and yelled out,

“What are you doing!!”

Sebastian looked up at Jonah then to Caroline who just looking scared out of her mind. Sebastian looked back at me and said,

“I won't harm your friends. Just come with me.” he said as I then watched as how Nathan stood and and tackled Sebastian to the ground.

Caroline yelled as I just sat there baffled. I didn't know what to do. I was afraid to do anything. I just closed my eyes and wished for everything to be over. I could feel the night fall over me like a blanket. Caroline yelled out at me,

“LIA! Do something!!”

I couldn't, if I did they both would never forgive me for it. There was only one way to stop the fight, but I had to sacrifice something that I promised I wanted to protect and save. I opened my eyes with determination and yelled out,

“Nathan stop!!”

Nathan stood in front of Sebastian with blood dripping from the corner of his mouth and nose. He looked from Sebastian then to me. I took a deep breath thinking that I was going to regret what I was going to do.

“Lets go Sebastian.” Nathan dropped his fists down in shook as Sebastian then adjusted his coat and said,

“Your lucky boy. She made me spare your life.” he walked back to me where he kissed me on my head and said,

“You know what this means don't you.”

I knew fully well. Especially in the situation I was in. Blade Children who decide to leave with a vampire never return to home. If they did they had to do something great. I just wondered if Nathan knew what it meant was well. Sebastian wrapped his arm around me as the night finally rose.

“The goddess has rising. She will be expecting you in a few months. If I were you I would prepare myself.”

“Who the hell is this goddess?” said Nathan more at me than Sebastian.

Sebastian looked down at me and said,

“You'll soon find out.”

The black shadow from the night before began to wrap around us.

“Wait LIA!!” yelled out Caroline as Nathan also yelled out,

“Lia! What are you doing!?”

I held back my tears and bit the bottom of my lip.

“Don't you dare come after me!! I won't forgive you if you do!!! Never!”

The darkness filled my eyes and all I heard was Caroline calling back to me.
