Fic title: Barking up the wrong tree
You could hardly sit still when you were driving to the shelter. This... mildly worried your partner, Gundam, since you were the one behind the wheel, but he trusted you all the same.
"I understand that you are excited to add another soldier to our ranks of darkness to fight alongside our Devas of Destruction, but please try to stay calm." He kissed you on the forehead after he noticed your slight pout.
You both clambered out of the car, and he was the first to tear up at all of the adorable little furry balls of cuteness. "They are so powerful!" He (almost) cried. One of the Devas started bawling with joy.
"So, I think we should pick f/b (favourite breed)!" You pointed to a sandy brown f/b who was playfully battering one of his fellow pups.
"You make me laugh sometimes, Y/N. The best breed is called a 'German Shepherd'." He pointed to the one the f/b was playing with. It's berry-bright eyes twinkled as they met with Gundam's.
"But you know how badly I've wanted a f/b since forever!" You objected, still quiet.
"Ma'am, sir, is there anything I can help you with?" An employee asked.
"No, we're good, thanks." You quickly dismissed the worker and turned back to Gundam. "I just really want a f/b."
"What do you have against German Shepherds, my Queen?"
"It's nothing, I just— I just really want a f/b."
"Well, I believe that German Shepherds are much stronger than those mere pets." His tone was slowly becoming more gruff.
"Take that back!"
"Never, mortal. The dog breed that I have tactically selected is much stronger and overall better than yours."
You stormed off in a huff to wait in the car. He soon followed, just as irritated, and, eventually, you rode home in silence.
The Devas, determined to get you to make up, squeaked a plan to Gundam.
The plan was enough to make the SHSL Animal Breeder smirk under his purple scarf, and he began meticulously crafting his plan.
For the rest of the night, you locked yourself in your room and wouldn't come out. No, not even for food. You knew you were being petty, but you were just sad that such a special moment - a moment that would help bring you and Gundam even closer together - was spoiled. You weren't upset with Gundam, just yourself.
You fell asleep on your bed, messy hair and all, for seemingly a second. The sound of snuffling woke you up.
"Jum-P, not now, I'm not in the mood." You gently reach a hand out, patting around gently to find the mischievous hamster without opening your eyes.
You heard snickering. "Foolish Queen."
"Gundam, what are you—" you open your eyes, ready to yawn, but being cut off by the most beautiful puppy you'd ever seen. Funnily enough, it didn't look like either a German Shepherd or f/b...
"It's a mixed breed between a f/b and a German Shepherd."
It licked your face. Instantly, you were up and hugging Gundam.
"You dark emo mess, I love you so much right now, I don't deserve such a guy..." you continued blabbering until the dog licked your nose.
"What should we call him?"
"How about 'Bear'?"
"Deadly, dangerous, sophisticated - I love it."
