Almost two months since Dei left and Mark was already going insane. He often reported to work drunk or high on narcotic drugs, and most of the time he could not work well. Several times he was caught sleeping on the job by his colleagues but he would either threaten them not to speak or his partner would cover for him. In most emergency calls, especially the ones where they were called to respond for shootouts or buglary, he would beat the hell out of the suspects that they have caught just to release the madness he was feeling inside. Even when it was not part of their duty, he would volunteer to interrogate and unabashedly lash out on suspects without really asking questions. He was becoming lunatic even with his colleagues but not one of his coworkers dared to report him to their police captain for fear of their lives.
He was only pretending to be busy going over the reports for some cases that they were handling in the office when his partner, Nick, came in. He looked at him and purposedly stopped what he was doing.
May balita na ba Pre? He asked Nick as he closed the case folder in his hands.
Wala pa rin Pare. Grabe ang hirap talagang hanapin nyang girlfriend mo. Mukhang matinik magtago. Ayaw magpahanap.
Nick replied.
Hindi ako susuko, Pre! Mahahanap at mahahanap ko rin siya. Lahat ba ng headquarters sa Maynila napuntahan at nacheck mo na?
Oo, Pre! Lahat lahat. Inisa-isa ko na mula dito sa'tin sa Bulacan hanggang Muntinlupa. Umabot na nga rin ako ng Cavite at Laguna Pare, wala pa rin talaga. Kahit saan ako magtanong-tanong walang nakakita o nakakakilala kay Dei. May natanggap ka na bang tawag sa ibang headquarters? Iniwan ko na nga rin ang litrato nya doon baka sakali kasing may magreport or may makita sila.
Wala, wala pang tumatawag. Kung nasuyod mo na buong Maynila at wala kang nahanap, posible na hindi siya sa Maynila nagtatago. Asan na ba siya?!
Naisip ko lang, Pre! Hindi kaya sumama siya sa ibang lalaki kaya hindi mo na siya mahanap? O baka nag-iba ng identity o pangalan kaya ang hirap hanapin.
Gago! Hindi pwedeng hindi ko siya mahanap, Pre! Dahil akin lang si Dei! Akin lang! Hindi siya pwedeng sumama sa ibang lalaki! Hindi ako papayag. Mapapatay ko ang sinumang humadlang sa pag-iibigan namin! Kailangan makaisip tayo ng ibang paraan, Nick! Hindi pwedeng ganito. Lalong tumatagal, lalo kong nababaliw kakaisip!
Relax ka lang pare. Mahahanap din natin yang babaeng yan.
He stood up from his seat and looked out of the window deep in thought. He was contemplating on what would be their next step and where else can they find her.
Alam ko na! Eh kung magpalabas at magpakalat tayo ng WANTED notice sa lahat ng pulisya sa buong bansa kasama ng picture niya. That way, mas madali natin siya mahahanap dahil tiyak, makakatulong sa'tin ang ibang pulisya sa paghahanap sa kanya.
Ang talino mo dun, Pre! Pero baka mahuli tayo ni Chief dyan. Wala naman talagang kaso bakit natin ipapakalat na wanted. Patay tayo kay Chief pag nalaman lalo pa kung makita yan.
Eh di hindi natin padadaanin sa kanya. Tayo na mismo magfax ng information at picture sa ibang headquarters. May listahan tayo dyan diba? Asan yung picture ni Dei? Ipascan mo na yan. Hahanapin ko yung listahan sa mga files. Mamaya bago umuwi, subukan ko sumalisi para maipakalat na yan.
Sige Pre, pero kung mahuli ni Chief labas ako dyan ha. Tsaka Pre, hinay hinay sa inom. Amoy chico ka na naman eh. Baka madatnan ka dito ni Chief mabulilyaso pa ang plano mo.
Oo na, oo na. Hindi naman ako nahuhuli. Wag mo na ko pakelaman. Gawin mo na lang yang pinagagawa ko Pre!
Pinag-iingat lang kita Pre. Sige na, mauuna na ko.
He went back to his seat and started to work on their plan. He checked their files on the computer and tried to locate the list. Once he found it, he immediately printed the file and kept it in his desk drawer. He smiled to himself thinking,
"Bakit ba ngayon ko lang naisip gawin toh? Hahahahaha! Wala kang kawala sa'kin Dei! Sigurado ko mabilis na kitang mahahanap dito. Kaya humanda ka na, walang makakapigil sa'kin!"
With all this madness going on in him, he was positive that he will easily locate his girlfriend, Dei with this WANTED notice. It was already running eight weeks and still they have no news about her whereabouts. He's running out of options but he's not giving up. His mind was all set to look for Dei, and when he finds her all hell will break lose because he will definitely make her feel his wrath.

Dei and Richard were really having a good time exchanging sweet nothings in the store that they didn't notice the time. They were indeed lost in their own world not minding anything or anyone as long as they're together. It was a little over eight in the evening when Dei realized that it was time for her to leave and go back to her reality. Richard was very insistent to drive her home but she still refused. She knew that Richard can be trusted but she still wanted to keep the place she's staying at to herself and Tita Rosie. She already took the risk today by going out with him because she could no longer hide the fact that she has fallen for this beautiful man, but she still has alot to think about and figure out to herself. And Richard knowing where she currently resides might just make it more complicated than it already is. She couldn't let him know because what if Mark suddenly shows up at her doorstep when Richard takes her home. She knew what Mark can do if and when he sees them together and she couldn't afford to ruin someone else's life more especially Richard's because he meant more to her now. So she wanted him to be safe and away from Mark too, as much as possible.
Hindi na Richard.
I'll be fine, really.
Nicomaine naman,
gabi na oh. Sige na hatid
na kita please.
Richard, ano ba? Hindi
ka pa ba nasanay? Ilang
beses na ba natin
ginagawa toh?
Oo nga, pero kasi ngayon
lang tayo ginabi ng ganito.
Madilim na, delikado na
maglakad for you.
Wag na kasi. Kaya ko
okay. Wag ka na makulit.
Hatid na kasi kita please?
Eto na naman tayo eh.
Palagi na lang tayong
ganito pag uwian na.
Paulit-ulit! Hindi na nga.
Nicomaine, ano bang gusto
mong gawin ko para
pumayag ka lang?
Please Richard, kaya ko
naman talaga. Wag ka na
kasing makulit. Kung
pinapaalis mo na ko
ngayon, nakakauwi na ko.
Bakit ba kasi ayaw mo?
May magagalit ba? Diba
sabi mo nakikitira ka lang
tsaka wala ka naman kasama?
Bakit hindi pwede?
Richard held both of her hands tight and looked at her pleadingly. She looked back at him with eyes full of worry and fears. He saw the weariness in her eyes even though she tried to hide it with her smile as she teased him.
"Oo, Richard, may magagalit
pero hindi ko pa kayang
sabihin sayo sa ngayon lahat."
Wag mo naman ako
tignan ng ganyan. Baka
matunaw ako lalo akong
hindi makauwi. Haha!
Richard didn't respond, instead he gazed at her lovingly as he thought,
"Nicomaine, nakikita ko ang
takot sa mga mata mo.
Papasukin mo ko sa puso mo
upang mapawi ko lahat ng
takot at lungkot mo."
Richard?
No answer.
Huuuuuy!
Anong nangyari sayo?
Natulala ka na dyan.
"Richard, anong nasa isip mo?"
He pulled her closer then wrapped his arms around her back, and nestled his head on her shoulder as he whispered to her.
Nicomaine...
Dei stood frozen and surprised with his sudden gesture, yet she didn't push him away. She wasn't able to say a word and just closed her eyes as she savored the warm embrace she was given. She let herself be succumbed to the intense emotions she was feeling as she slowly slid her arms and hugged him in return.
Gusto kong malaman mo
na kahit anong mangyari,
kahit gaano pa katagal,
maghihintay ako na buksan
mo ang puso mo at
papasukin mo ko.
Yayakapin kita ng ganito..
hanggang mawala ang
takot sa mga mata mo,
hanggang mapawi ko ang
lahat ng sakit dyan sa puso mo.
They were both already in tears with Richard's words. Their chest heaving and they both felt each other's heart beating frantically. Dei gathered all her might to speak and answer him.
Richard, hindi ko pa
alam sa ngayon ang mga
dapat sabihin. Naguguluhan
ako. Pero gusto kong
malaman mo na sa tuwing
kasama kita, gumagaan ang
pakiramdam ko. Hayaan mo
muna kong umuwi at mag-isip.
Dei said as she wiped her tears.

yakap-yakap mo ko.
Richard pulled away and held
both of her shoulders as he asked,
Talagaaaa?
Oo nga, promise! Pero
hayaan mo na muna ko
umuwi mag-isa ngayon
please? Kaya ko naman eh.
Nag-aalala kasi ako sayo
eh. Tsaka diba sabi ko sayo
hindi na kita bibitawan?
Seryoso kasi yun.
Alam ko naman na seryoso
yun. Promise, kaya ko talaga.
Halos araw-araw ko na nga
ginagawa toh diba? Tsaka
mas nakakapag-isip ako
habang naglalakad. Sundan
mo na lang ako ng tingin mula
dito hanggang sa makaliko
ako, okay ba yun?
Oh sige, pero last na toh
ha? Sa susunod wala ka ng
magagawa dahil kahit pa
ayaw mo, ihahatid pa rin kita.
Opo, next time na lang.
Smile ka na ha?
Mag-smile ka muna..
Dei forced herself to smile widely at him.
Pilit naman eh. Sige na,
smile ka na. Yung totoong
smile mo para sa'kin, please?
Dei showed him a small
smile as she said,
Ayan na ha. Sige na, aalis na
ko. Thank you for today,
Richard. Talaga namang
nasiyahan ako sa gala natin.
She stepped closer to Richard and tip-toed to kiss him on the cheeks and hurriedly ran away from him.
Richard was stunned and was equally surprised for that kiss. He touched the side of his face and was momentarily stuck as his lips curved into a smile and his eyes turned into slits. He saw Dei briskly walking, already a few steps ahead.
Nicomaine!
Teka lang...
He shouted as he ran to her. Dei stopped and turned around as she replied in a loud voice too.
Bakit?
He caught her in an instant.
Eh kasi ano... may
nakalimutan ka eh...
Huh? Wala naman ah.
He bravely stepped forward and quickly stole a kiss from her as well. Then he ran back towards the store like a kid running from his playmates while he said,
Hihihi! Ingat ka,
Nicomaine ha. See you
tomorrow. Babye!
She was completely caught off guard with that stolen kiss but she didn't fuss about it. She head back on the road after waving goodbye to him. Richard looked at her retreating figure as he thought to himself.
"One day at a time Richard. Let's take it one day at a time."
