Natsumi's POV

For the next few days, Subaru and I were pretty much joined at the hip. It just confused me all the more. I couldn't understand. He'd said he cared about me, but caring wasn't the same as loving....was it? Did he just not have the guts to say "I love you" and falsely translated it? He hadn't shown me love, had he? Did the kiss mean something, or am I overthinking it?

While the thoughts had raced through my head, the classroom had gone dead silent. I was pulled out of my trance by hearing Subaru hiss my name under his breath. The teacher was staring at me. I blinked.

"What?"I asked. The teacher sighed and pointed to the math equation on the board. English numbers? Alright let's see. I tapped my chin as I read the equation.

"Do you need to come up here and work it out?"The teacher asked. I shook my head.

"Six divided by two times parentheses one plus two....that's nine,"I answered her. Everyone gaped at me.

"No!"I heard someone protest. My eyes flickered to Yuma, who was standing up and bracing his hands on his table. "Six divided by two times parentheses one plus two is one. You do parentheses first, which is three, multiply by two, which is six, and then divide by six. One is the answer." I stared at Yuma.

"Actually you read the equation normally from left to right. You're doing it parentheses first because of the PEMDAS rule, but parentheses only comes into play if there ARE exponents in the equation, which there aren't. So you're wrong. It's nine Teacher,"I replied. The teacher nodded in response. Yuma growled in anger and left the room, slamming the door. I sighed and slumped back in my seat. When the bell rang, I decided to ditch the rest of my classes, and went up to the roof. Subaru didn't follow me, which I guess was okay. It's not like I expected him to. Yeah you did. Shut up me.

On the roof is where I found Yuma. When he saw me his anger only refined itself into a glare again. I stared back. He ground his teeth before speaking.

"What? Here to pester me, livestock?"he growled. I rolled my eyes.

"That term doesn't apply to me anymore,"I replied. He stared at me for an explanation. "I don't have to explain. You should be able to figure it out for yourself." I moved past him and sat myself in one of the gaps between the bars on the roof. My legs dangled off the side, swimming back and forth. I knocked my heels against the cement of the building, and frowned when I realized Yuma was just staring at me. Suddenly he moved quickly, yanking me back from the spot and into his arms, brushing my hair to the side, and burying his fangs into my neck. He pulled away as quickly as he'd done it.

"Pureblood?!"he exclaimed. I didn't answer him, only attempted to free myself, but he buried his fangs into my neck again. I made a noise of protest.

"Let....go!"I shouted. He drank more of my blood in response and I began to feel weak against him, almost drunk with the noise of my blood being sucked into him. It doesn't feel bad. Yuma gripped my wrists in either hand, and his hands seemed to slowly move to where he was lacing his fingers with mine. He pulled away and licked his lips.

"You still taste sweet,"he whispered in my ear. He didn't let me go completely, but moved his left hand to tilt my face back towards him, planting his lips on mine. I heard a sudden crack ring out. With a sudden strength I shoved Yuma away from me, spotting a head of pinkish white hair disappearing through the roof door. A crushed area of the wall could be seen just beside it. Subaru. I stood up and ran after Subaru, abandoning Yuma on the roof. When I caught up to him we were in the stairwell, and he was just walking away in anger.

"Subaru!"I called. He froze in place.

"Don't,"he replied. I could tell he was shaking in anger. "Don't. Talk. To. Me." I stepped down the steps closer to him.

"It's not what it looked like, Yuma was-"I began.

"I said don't talk to me,"Subaru interrupted. I frowned and he started to walk away again. I grabbed his sleeve on a reflex. He turned and his hand cracked against my face, knocking me back against the wall. His face immediately fell as he gazed at me, knowing he'd just hit me. "Shit, Natsumi I-" I felt the tears brim in my eyes and I took off, shoving past him and running down the stairs. "Natsumi!" I ignored his calls for me and ran straight out of the school. When I reached outside, he appeared in front of me. "Natsumi listen to me!"

I turned and ran to the right, trying to get as far away from him as I could. Tears were streaming down my face. Just leave me alone! Stop chasing me! I tripped and fell flat on my face.

"Wait, I won't hurt you!"Subaru called to me. I sat up and rolled over to face the front. My hands were behind me, holding me up as I stared up at him.

"A little too late for that, don't you think?!"I growled accusingly. I stood and brushed myself off, stepping back from him.

"I'm sorry, ok? Forgive me, I just-"Subaru told me, and he grabbed my wrist.

"Back off! Don't touch me! Someone help!"I shouted.

"Lover, why are you screaming?"a voice asked behind me. I turned and saw Shu laying on one of the school benches. He sat up and looked at me trying to pull away from Subaru. His eyes zeroed in on the red welt from my cheek, and he glared. "Who did that to you?" With a little strength I yanked my wrist from Subaru's and stumbled backwards. Shu caught me with speed and glared at Subaru. "It was you. Subaru, I'm shocked."

"I didn't mean to,"Subaru replied. He sighed and stepped back, looking down at me. His eyes revealed that he was hurt inside. "I didn't....I never wanted to hurt her." And he was gone, leaving me in Shu's arms. In one big go, all the strength left my body and I fell limp against Shu. He picked me up and carried me to the bench, crouching in front of me. He turned my face to the side and ran a finger gently over the welt. He turned my face the opposite way and examined Yuma's fang marks.

"Yuma Mukami...."Shu murmured. No, you mean Edgar, Shu. You know he's Edgar....or he was. Shu traces a finger over the marks. "Subaru hit you because he misunderstood....Yuma attacked you for your blood. Did anything else happen between you an Yuma?" I turned my face back towards him.

"Yuma forced a kiss on me, but I don't get why-"I began. Shu made a low noise in his throat. I blinked as he stood up in front of me and sat beside me. He sighed.

"Of course that angered Subaru,"Shu murmured. I blinked. "You know Subaru loves you, don't you?" I frowned.

"I thought he loved Yui,"I replied. Shu made a small noise that can only be assumed as a chuckle. He sighed and in a minute he'd adjusted himself to lower his head into my lap. He closed his eyes and sighed again. I blushed at his gesture, but let him stay there.

"You know. I thought I could just get over it,"Shu told me. I frowned. Over what? "But with you acting this way it's hard to. I just keep finding more reasons to not move on." Move on? He talks as if he has feelings for me. He doesn't....does he? Shu moves his hand and found mine, grabbing it gently. He brought my fingers to his lips and brushed a kiss across the side of my hand. My skin tingled lightly, but it was different than when Subaru touched me. With him even a simple brush of the arm would send jolts if warmth through my body. "I know you must be confused now." I didn't say anything. For some reason, I couldn't. I was mentally tired....and done. I wanted Subaru to come back and to get down on his knees in apology. At the same time I wanted him to stay away.

Subaru's POV

It's over. It's all over. I hit her. She's never going to forgive me. I slammed my fist into the wall of my bedroom and slid down it, leaning my head back against the wall. I hit her. I stared at the hand I hit her with. Shu will take her from me.

I stayed in my room for a long time, silent. It wasn't until I heard a voice sound in there that I spoke back.

"So you hit the little kitty?"a voice spoke. Laito.

"Go away, Laito,"I sighed. He chuckled in response.

"I don't think I will. I think I'll help you and my new sister sort out your problems,"Laito replied. I looked up at him. He grinned at me. Sister? "When I say sister I mean it because you're probably going to end up marrying her. Or Shu might, if you don't let me help fix the problem." I frowned at the thought of Shu being with her. "That's what I thought. So. How do you want to fix this?"

"Can....you just get her to talk to me?"I asked. Laito whistled.

"I don't know about that....I can try,"Laito replied. He grinned. "I'll be back"

And I was alone again.(A/N: *sings* Alone agaiiiinnn, naturallyyyyy)

Natsumi's POV

Now I was at the point where I just wanted Subaru to come back to me. As I sat on my bed, listening to my music and thinking about how differently our situation could've turned out, if I'd have just listened to him.

"He feels the same way, Lovely,"I heard over my music. I saw Laito beside me and I frowned. He gave me a sad look. "I hate to see you so down. Your eyes are blue, you know." I frowned harder.

"What do you want Laito?"I asked. He put his hand over his chest in fake hurt.

"Ouch. So cold, so cold. It sends shivers up and down my body, almost enough to make a man do incredible things,"Laito moaned. I wrinkled my nose up and he sighed. "I'm kidding. Kitten, go speak with Subaru." I shook my head. "Why not?"

"You say he feels the same but there's no validation, no proof that he does. Just leave, Laito. I give up. He loves Yui....not me,"I murmured. I teleported myself to the garden and sat down on a bench. I gazed at the white roses around me, and tried to push all thoughts of Subaru away.

"Eve. Why not come with me?"I heard a voice. Eve? I'm not Eve. That's a mukami voice. "No. Natsumi. Come with me. Subaru has crushed your spirits....you need to get away." I turned and saw Ruki staring down at me with a soft look on his face. I looked down at my lap and sighed. Couldn't people just leave me alone? "If you won't come willingly I'll take you." I flinched.

"What? No, just leave, I'm not going!"I protested. I jumped up from the bench and backed away from him. I bumped into someone else and felt arms encircle me.

"Ahhh Bunny, you're so warm!"a voice said in my ear.

"Let go!"I screamed, struggling. I tried to teleport but failed. "Let go!"

"Stop fighting, Livestock. You belong with us anyways,"I heard from beside us. Yuma. His fault. It's his fault Subaru and I are at odds.

"Let go! Subaru!"I called, but the Mukami brothers took me away anyways.

That's when I wished I could've just gone and talked to Subaru. Damn me, I'm so stubborn!
