Chap 11: Dinner
(mostly edited, but I stopped halfway through to finish and interview I was watching on Brenden Urie)
Yuri's POV

Today is Sunday. And if you know anything about the relationship between Sunday and Ice Cafe, you'd know that today is our one and only breakday of the week. So like most of my colleagues we tend to spend it with friends or people we care about, or just relax and take it easy. For us, Sunday is a day where we can do anything without worries.

I could easily remember how I used to spend these days, I used to just sit on my couch and eat junk food as I played with random apps. It was boring, but I didn't really have any living friends other than my cat. And if Victor or anyone from the cafe ever tried to invite me to anything, I'd just decline with one of my google searched excuses not to.

But thinking over the month I'd spent with Otabek, a lot has changed for me on Sundays. For one, after the two of us started to get closer, he took me out every sunday no matter the situation. Even if he was just writing, he took me over to his house and we'd joke around and brainstorm ideas with one another. We'd also go to the ice rink a lot, and I actually started to give Otabek lessons and to be honest, he wasn't all that bad at it.

He would also take me out to lunch, and we've probably been to all the cafe's in the area more than twice already. It was kind of funny, and not to mention since we can't get food from the cafe on sundays we go to Dunkin Doughnuts every sunday morning. But what it even better is the fact that we actually know the names of the worker's.

For example, the boss of the establishment as he likes to call it, is Cj, an extremely dirty minded, loud, sympathetic manager. Whenever we came in we could always see him humming along with the cheesy music they played, or talking about some basketball game that went on the night before.

Next there is Brinley, a shy, but an amazing baker that makes all the doughnuts and stuff.

Then there is Ashe, who is the cashier. They were pretty quiet at the beginning, but as they started to get to know them more they found out that they were pretty loud, and could be quite rude at times. Ashe was similar to me as well, not very social (until Otabek of course).

But it was kind of nice getting to know them, and we all talk via texting.

And today, I was ready to relive that normal routine once more. But as I headed over to the meeting spot I got a call from Otabek.

I smiled as I picked up the phone, "Hello?" I answered. "Goodmorning Yura," Otabek greeted. I felt my cheeks go warm for a moment, his nickname got me every time. "Same to you Beka," I smiled, "are you almost here?" I asked. I heard a sigh at the other end, "you see... that's why I'm calling you." He explained. I felt my heart drop for a moment, "is something wrong?" I asked nervously. I could hear him shake his head, "no, no, nothing's wrong it's just my boss is coming over to look at the story and I don't think he'd want to see you over here" he sighed on the other end.

I gave a small hum and frowned, "oh well that sucks." I blatantly responded. He laughed, "I know right! Now I have to clean up my apartment for him." I scoffed, "so you clean your apartment for him and not me?" I jokingly questioned. I heard him chuckle, "yeah, I just really want to impress him." he joked. I snorted and gave out a fake gasp, "how dare you cheat on me!" I accused. "I didn't cheat!" he bellowed, " I just found someone who'd criticize all the things I work so hard at" he fake cried. I smiled, "oh no! My only weakness," I smiled, "men who're meaner than me." Otabek laughed, "nobody is meaner than you Yura, you've got the eyes of a soldier," he complimented. I blushed as I put the phone closer to my ear, "why thank you," I thanked while shyly looking at the ground. I could almost imagine how he'd look right now, the sides of his mouth pulling back into a beautiful smile was enough to make me feel warm inside.

"Oh! I got to go, I got a lot more to clean and not a lot of time! See you tomorrow Yura!" He exclaimed before abruptly hanging up. I jumped at the sudden sound and put my phone down with a sigh, there goes my plans for the day.

I hummed as I rolled around my feet looking around for some place to scoop out the surrounding areas. I was already outside the house so I thought that I could possibly find something, anything really. And I did, I found stores. And with stores I found clothing, and with clothing I found tiger print, and I guess you could figure out the rest from there.

I just ended up drowning myself in cat plushies, food, and clothing.

It was my ideal picture of fun. But after a bit I just went and explored, and for once I actually paid attention to the city I lived in. And it was beautiful. In fact I never realised how nice this place was, and surprisingly enough I found myself get inspired.

I found myself going into small bakeries checking out new recipes and books, and I even took a few pictures for some designs I was struggling with. It was really nice, but towards the end I got a little grumpy with my empty stomach.

It was getting dark outside and I knew that I needed to get something quick, so I scanned the area around me in hopes to see some kind of place for takeout, or a nice restaurant. I sighed as I started to walk, nothing was in the area I was currently at. In fact, I really didn't know where I was. I ended up exploring a lot more than I ever thought I would. I looked down at my phone and tapped on google maps. Once I was on the app I checked to see where I was and groaned, I was miles away from home. Closing my eyes I checked the area near my home for restaurants that I could go to after I find a mode of transportation.

I stopped as I looked at a familiar restaurant on the screen. It was the same place Otabek had taken me the first time we hung out outside of the cafe.

I smiled fondly at the memory and saw how close it was to my house, practically walking distance. I nodded and then put my phone down to look at the road scanning every direction for a taxi. Once I saw one coming my way I waved my hand and whistled at it until the driver waved at me and pulled over. I then walked over to the door and got in. "Where will I be taking you ma'am?" He asked.

I sighed, "please take me to Grande, and I'm a man." I stated not really wanting to go further on the topic. His face heated up, "my apologies." I shook it off and looked out the window as he pulled up the directions and began the car once again.

~

The drive had been silent as the driver was too embarrassed to speak after his gender mix-up, and I not really caring to start a conversation up. It was kind of awkward too, but I didn't let it get to me as I just played whatever games I had on my phone.

After we had arrived at Grande though I handed him some money and hopped out of the car. By now I was starving, and couldn't wait to just eat something already. I walked inside the restaurant and was greeted by a nice looking man with short brown hair and pretty blue eyes. "Hello there and welcome to Grande! What kind of seat would you like for a beautiful lady like yourself?" He asked.

Once again I rolled my eyes. I don't get why people confuse with me with girls anyway. Sure I have long blonde hair, and quite the small stature. But that doesn't immediately point to being a girl. "I guess I'll have a seat for two," I sighed, "and I'm a guy." I answered before walking off to find a seat that I wanted. His eyes widened and he facepalmed, "hehe, sorry about that then sir" he responded with an awkward chuckle, now following me to the window seat Otabek and I had sat at long ago, and then I sat down.

The brunette then walked off probably to go tell someone to serve me and I looked down at the menu the waiter had swiftly placed on the table. I scanned over it for a moment looking for a type of drink that I might like to have and decided on plain old water. Then only minutes later a guy with long black hair came over to me. He looked extremely pissed, and his arms were crossed. "What can I get you to drink?" He asked boredly.

Immediately I hated his attitude, but then I remembered what it was like serving people back then at the cafe, and for once I let him off the hook. He had a right to be pissed because in the few minutes that I had sat down I managed to notice how many families were here, which meant children were there as well, and you probably get the picture. "Just water would be fine" I ordered, "thank you." He nodded as he scribbled it down. "Alright I'll get that out as soon as I can," he muttered before redirecting himself to the kitchen. But along the way that brown haired boy stopped him and said something I couldn't quite make out, but I guess it was bad because the raven haired boy ended up leaving him with a slap on the brunettes cheek. From behind the kitchen I could see a girl with brown haired snicker at the two, and some other tan guy with black hair just roll his eyes before heading back into the kitchen.

I couldn't help but smile slightly at the group, it was obvious that they were friends and for some reason it reminded me of how things were at Ice Cafe. And as I thought of the cafe a warm feeling spread through me, I was kind of lucky to work there if I really thought about it. I had a kind boss, I somewhat have friends there, I have a reasonable pay, I'm doing my dream job, and not to mention I actually found the guy I love there.

I chuckled to myself and then picked up the menu once more, and listened as the place got louder and louder by the minute. I  went over the menu a few times, and as I was about to settle on an item, the sound of someone coughing alerted me. I looked up to see who it was and...no way.

No freaking way. Out of all the people who could be here why was HE here?

Once the guy in front of me saw my gaze he awkwardly laughed, "hehe, hey Yurio!" He greeted with a small awkward wave. "U-Um, well tonight this place is really packed and I really don't want to stay up late just trying to find a place to eat, and this place makes the food really fast, so um could I just sit at this table with you? I will not be a bother I swear, I just have really early classes tomorrow and I don't think I'll survive if I stay up any later than 10." He rambled.

I just stared at him in awestruck, still trying to comprehend what was going on. He wanted to sit at this table with me? I wanted to just yell at him to leave, but I knew that if Victor ever found out about this then I'll probably die. So like the young adult I am, I nodded.

"Sure Yuuri, why not?" I rolled my eyes. He ignored my eye roll and smiled, "thank you! You're a lifesaver!" He exclaimed before sitting down.

He took of his dark trench coat and smiled at me before fixing up his glasses. He looked at the menu for a moment, and then down at the table under him and I groaned. He didn't have a menu. "Here," I said extending the menu out to him, "look through this. I already know what I want."

He nodded and muttered a small thank you at me as he began to dig through the menu. Sometime during that the grumpy server had returned with a sigh. "Ah, I see someone else has arrived to," he thought aloud. He closed his eyes, "what can I get you to drink sir?" He asked. Yuuri thought for a moment, "just water should be fine." Yuuri said before nodded to himself, almost as if he was confirming it inside his head.

The waiter,I squinted at his name tag, Keith, then turned to me. "And what can I get you to eat?" He questioned. "The chicken noodle soup please," I say before pulling my phone out. He scribbled it down on his notepad silently and then began to walk away, not even bothering to say goodbye. It was an understatement to call him pissed, you could just tell that with the mix of annoying children, bad customers, and the one brown haired boy from the entrance, were all getting on his nerve.

I silently scrolled through instagram for a bit, and glanced up once as Keith had returned and gave Yuuri his water. Yuuri then caught my gaze, and for a moment we just stared at each other. By now Keith was gone, and I just ended up turning off my phone as I stared at the, what seemed to be, Japanese boy.

Probably feeling a bit nervous he just decided to take a sip of his water, but just as he began to drink I decided to ask the only question on my mind. "Are you and Victor dating yet?" I asked bluntly. His eyes widened as he then spit his water out. I closed my eyes and cringed as the feeling of the cold water sprayed onto my face.

Immediately he panicked at the sight, "oh my god! I'm so sorry!" He exclaimed as he quickly went to clean my face up. I just sat there as he rubbed his napkin on my face, and once it was off my face I just glared at him. He squeaked in surprise, and I just took a deep breath in. "Well? Answer the question." I demanded, really wanted to just get off the topic. It was pathetic watching him act that way towards me.

His face reddened, "we aren't dating, and what do you mean by yet?" He asked. I couldn't help but smirk, "well it's just so obvious that you like him." I teased. His face got even redder, "is it really that obvious?" He asked. I nodded, "yup, you're always blushing whenever you're near him," I said placing my hands onto the table and leaned in, "not to mention you two always seem to be flirting."

He placed his head into his hands, "ahh! That's so embarrassing!" He exclaimed. I shrugged, "yeah, it's really annoying too." I say grumbling a bit. At this he perked up, "how is it annoying?" He asked. I rolled my eyes, "it's so obvious you two like each other, but you never get the hints. It always annoys everyone at the cafe." I explained.

He looked at me quite shocked, "wait," he paused, "Victor likes me?" He asked. I stared at him as I slumped into my chair. "What do you think?" I questioned as I was almost under the table. "Sit up, I need to know if you're messing with me or not!" He ushered in a serious tone.

I rolled my eyes as I sat up, "yes, I'm being serious." I deadpanned as I got up. He smiled brightly, "I can't believe it..." He muttered to himself. I just shook my head at him as Keith came once again to get Yuuri's order.

Yuuri just ended up getting some chicken salad, and we got our waters refilled. For a bit we were actually pretty quiet until Yuuri seemed to of thought of something. "You know, you aren't exactly off the hook either." He stated randomly. I raised my eyebrow at him, "what do you mean?" I questioned. He smiled, "Victor is always complaining about your interactions with some guy called Otabek." He teased making my eyes go wide.

Once he got that reaction he just smirked, "so I was right." He muttered smiling. I blushed, "I don't know what you're talking about," I denied, "Otabek and I are just...friends?" Yuuri raised his brow, "really," he nodded, "just friends?" I turned away, "yup." I nodded.

He shook his head, "then I guess we're in the same boat then aren't we?" He asked. I didn't really want to agree with him so I just turned to the window. After that it got a little silent as our meals had arrived by the done-with-life Keith. We thanked him silently as we dug into our food. I sighed as the warm soup hit my throat and I quickly scarfed down the food. Yuuri did the same and before we knew it our food was gone and I we were paying our own bills.

But just as I went to leave Yuuri stopped me,"um, thanks again for letting me tag along with you, " he thanked, "and I wanted to let you know I had fun tonight." He smiled. I stared at him for a moment and nodded, "no problem, I'll probably see you tomorrow," I said putting my hands on the back of my head, Yuuri shook his head, "I told you earlier, I have a morning class tomorrow, I have to come in later." He explained. I took a moment and nodded, "want me to tell Victor?" I offered. He smiled at me and nodded, "that would be great, thank you!" He said getting up.

I shrugged, "no problem." I murmured. He then patted my back, "I guess since I'm coming in later I will see that Otabek guy," he smirked, "I can't wait." He teased. I rolled my eyes, "whatever." I say before following him outside the building. Once outside he waved one last time before he jogged off in the other direction. I sighed as his figure disappeared and turned to the direction of my home and slowly made my short walk there.

sorry I took so long to update!! I've been busy with school and all that, and I was struggling with some of my other stories as well! But thank you for reading this chapter though!
