(Ash x Lyle POV)
It's Wednesday. Someone just texts Karlyle. He receives it while he's going shopping with Ash after work at Waitrose. It's his personal phone, only Ash or his family can contact him through this number. Walking beside Ash who's pushing the cart, Karlyle takes his phone out.
[Karlyle, do you want to hang out with me this weekend?]
He blinks. The sender's identity is clear. Who else besides the lovely little brother whom he loves so much. But he didn't expect this message. Ever since Kyle met Nicholas, he spent most of his time with him, so it's such a surprise to receive an invitation like this from Kyle.
"What's wrong, Lyle?"
Ash pushes the cart to him and asks gently. Ah. Karlyle takes his eyes off the phone. The moment his eyes meet Ash's, a smile blooms on his stoic face. His ears blush in shyness.
"Kyle just texted me, so I'm checking it."
"At this hour?"
Ash stops the cart. Karlyle also stops. Ash slightly leans on the cart handle and smiles at him. His smile is so adorable that Karlyle might melt right on the spot.
"Can I ask what Kyle texted you?"
Karlyle turns around and looks behind Ash. They are standing in front of the pet section. Is there anything worth buying here? As long as it's what Ash wants, he can buy anything. He can even take over this supermarket if he wants. However, pet stuff has nothing to do with them.
Watching Karlyle who's looking at him with curious eyes, Ash smiles even brighter. His friendly face shows that he's waiting for the answer. He shouldn't let Ash wait any longer, Karlyle quickly opens his mouth. His eyebrows curl up apologetically, he puts his hand on top of Ash's hand, which is lying on the cart handle. He fidgets, his lips stutter. Oh my god this feeling.
"He wants to meet me this weekend."
"Uhm hm."
Ash still doesn't move. At the same time, Kyle sends one more text.
[How about the amusement park? Me and Nick, you and Ash Jones.]
Ash's full name is really Ash Jones, but Kyle calling him like that sounds so distant. Karlyle is upset. He wonders when his lovely brother will become more friendly with Ash. Being immersed in his thoughts, Karlyle totally forgets Ash is waiting for him. He sends a text back to Kyle.
[It'd be better if you call him Ash.]
Kyle immediately replies. This is strange.
[Do you like Ash Jones that much?]
At the sulky text, Karlyle's expression cracks a little. How unfair. This kid is pouting, so cute. He lets out a small snicker. Even though they are grown-ups, Karlyle can't help but think so. When Kyle was small, he used to hug his waist tightly whenever he was sullen. So adorable.
[Aren't you asking an obvious thing?]
If Kyle were in front of him right now, his blue eyes would bulge wide in disbelief. Ever since he started dating Ash, Kyle is always pouting. Kyle is getting more and more adorable day by day.
Being lost in his thoughts, Karlyle is startled when something tickles his hand. He turns his head. Ash is staring at him. Although his eyes are gentle as always, there's something strange.
"Lyle."
He calls his name lovingly. His body becomes tense as Ash traces his fingers along the back of his hand. The tingling sensation spreads on his skin.
"I know you and Kyle are on very good terms, but…."
Ash slides his fingers inside Karlyle's sleeve. He caresses his milky white skin underneath it.
"I hope you can care about me, too."
His beautiful eyes become sullen. Oh no, he's making Ash sad. Karlyle seriously reflects on himself.
"I'm sorry."
"You don't need to apologize, instead…."
Ash looks so, so sad. It breaks his heart. He could have replied to Kyle after going home, instead, he ignored Ash who was with him. This is his fault.
"Can you kiss me here?"
Ash points to his cheek. Karlyle freezes. His eyes dash around. There aren't many people here, but, on the cheek….
"Ash, but…."
"You can't?"
Karlyle's heart softens at his weak voice. How can he resist his lover's sad face? After the kiss last week, this has been happening more often. The problem is that Karlyle always does whatever Ash wants. Closing his eyes, he puts a kiss on Ash's cheek. His skin feels so soft and warm.
"Here, too."
Ash points to a different place. Karlyle lets out a small laugh. His eyelashes flutter, he follows Ash's lead. He puts a kiss on his chin, then his lip corner. When he feels Ash's hot breath on his lips, their lips touch. Ash bites him softly.
"If you focus on someone else other than me…."
Ash whispers. Totally forgetting about Kyle's message, Karlyle loses himself in the kiss. Of course, it's embarrassing to kiss in public, but it feels good. They indulge in each other. His lips feel like they are being swollen from being bitten and licked.
"I'll be very sad, you know?"
After tasting his lips deliciously, Ash says. He finally lets him go. Although they don't kiss with tongues, his whole body is burning. Karlyle's gradually getting used to being intimate in public, he has to anyway. However, he's still very embarrassed. He shyly averts his eyes.
"I'll pay more attention."
"Thank you."
Ash gently pecks his nose, complimenting him. A satisfactory smile blooms on his face, Ash resumes pushing the cart. They hold hands tightly and continue shopping.
They don't go shopping very regularly. However, Ash enjoys spending time cooking with him very much. That's why they usually make time to go shopping together at least once or twice per week. This time is especially important to Karlyle, who hardly cooked on his own or went shopping by himself. Moreover, he loves enjoying precious everyday moments with Ash. Also, he loves the feeling of Ash wrapping his arms around him when they pick out what to make for dinner together.
"So, what did Kyle text you?"
Putting the raspberries for desserts in the cart, Ash asks him.
"He asked me to go to the amusement park with him."
"Is Kyle still such a child?"
Ash's voice sounds a little edgy. Karlyle blinks. But Ash looks as gentle as usual. Staring at a fig, Ash continues.
"Do you also want to go, Lyle?"
Karlyle is about to say yes, but he pauses for a moment. Ash obviously sounds very friendly, but why does his voice have some kind of invisible pressure?
"If you want to leave me home alone to spend the weekend with Kyle…. Okay, I see. Of course you can, Lyle."
Leave - me - home - alone. Ash puts emphasis on each word. Karlyle silently thinks to himself. It seems that Ash's thinking he will hang out with Kyle and leave him alone this weekend. So cute. Looking at Ash and his pout, Karlyle tries to hold back his laugh. How can he have such an adorable thought?
"No. You and Nicholas can come, too."
Ash slowly nods, his hand is still holding the fig. He then picks up a few more delicious ones. After filling up the cart, Ash looks down at him and smiles affectionately. He slightly bows down and kisses his forehead.
"Whatever you want, Lyle."
"Do you feel okay with that?"
"Of course."
Ash smiles and holds Karlyle's hand again. His force seems stronger than usual. Karlyle wants to go home as fast as possible. Excitement is running through his veins. When he comes home, he can kiss Ash however he wants.
At the counter, Karlyle takes his phone out again. Come to think of it, he hasn't had many happy memories about amusement parks. He only went there with Kyle when he was small and there wasn't anything special. Now he's going with Ash, how exciting. Karlyle can't hide his anticipation. He then sends Kyle a text.
'We should go together when the time is suitable for you', he texts Kyle. But he isn't aware of how Ash's staring at him.
