Part Three
Narrator POV
When the sun started to rise to bring about the new day, Angie slowly transformed back into Star the T-Rex. Although it was morning, Star was still tired and stayed asleep for a little while longer.
And as she slept, Baku decided to pay her a little visit. Thankfully the visit was on friendly terms since, the two of them met over two years ago.
As Baku walked over to Star's cave, he could see that she was still sleeping. So being the gentle-dino that he is, Baku carefully nudged his snout against Star's cheek.
Luckily that completely did the trick since Star is a light sleeper. Well only when she's not over the rails tired.
"Hm oh Baku it's you. Hehe I wasn't expecting to see you today. What brings you by here?" Star questions as she gets up.
*yawns softly and gets up*
"Good morning Star I've just wanted to see how you are doing since it's been awhile and I wanted to talk to you about Heart." Baku says as he sits down.
As Star sits up to talk to Baku, she can't help but remember how they met. Thankfully it was on good terms otherwise, both rexes would be enemies with each other.
"So Baku what is it that you would like to discuss about Heart?" Star asks as she looks at the sky.
"Well besides the fact that he's been hunting in my territory every now and again but, I'm very much impressed with how well you trained him.
I do regret not being able to change your mind about training the young rexes under my command." Baku says as he hands Star a chunk of meat.
"Ah yes I'm well aware that Heart is being a little bit hardheaded when it comes to hunting for food but, he will learn one day.
Although as much as I would have liked to train your little group, I'm afraid it's completely out of the question Baku.
You know more better than anyone else why I chose to train Heart instead of the young bloods." Star says as she eats her food.
Baku couldn't exactly argue with her there since, Star was a well known legend around the northeastern regions. And her story spreads far and wide to many carnivores that admire her.
Even some of the herbivores consider Star to be a good T-Rex since, she's saved a lot of innocent lives. However, if a carnivore wants to learn from her, then they must be worthy of her teachings like Heart is.
"Hm I understand Star but please do try to keep Heart under control at least, and I will do my best to keep the youngsters in line." Baku says as he gets up and leaves.
"I will do my best Baku but, I can't guarantee anything." Star says as she sees Baku leave.
Star's POV
A few minutes after Baku left my territory, I hear Umasou's voice coming closer which means Heart is also close by. As I look to my right, the both of them were coming up the trail to meet me.
"Hi mom it's good to see you again!" Umasou says excitedly.
"It's good to see you too Umasou- wait did you just call me mom?"
"Hehehe sorry Star but, I guess ever since you saved him from falling, you automatically became his mom." Heart explains as he lowers his head.
"It's okay Heart besides it's probably best for there to be two parents instead of one. Anyway let's hurry get Umasou something to eat, I bet he's really hungry right now."
Before Heart could say anything about it, Umasou started to climb up on me. And once he was comfortable on my head, I started to walk towards the meadow.
Heart and myself sat down and let Umasou go nuts with eating the plants in the meadow. As I was watching Umasou eating his food, I noticed at the corner of my eye that Heart was staring at me.
"Heart have I not told you that it's very rude to stare at someone for long periods of time?"
"Sorry Star, it's just that I'm surprised that you aren't talking to me about my screams from last night." Heart says as he too looks at Umasou.
"Well from what they way you sounded last night, I could assume that it was a personal nightmare. So there's no need to rush into it, whenever you feel read to talk about it Heart then I'll be here ready to listen."
'Good lord I'm starting to sound like my mother.'
'Isn't that a good thing though?' Azukirius questions in my mind.
'Only when necessary Azu now shut it and bother me later please.'
'Okay Ms. Testy jeez.'
"What a predicament. Won't he eventually be all over the place and get separated from me and Star? I have no choice but to wait for him to get huge." Heart mutters to himself.
"Hey Heart I'm getting a little bit hungry, I'm going to get something to eat."
"I'll go eat something too." Heart says as he comes with me.
Narrator POV
Just as Heart and Star start to leave, Umasou starts to follow them but, they both end up hearing him and stop walking.
"He's following us Heart. And if you plan to leave Umasou here, try to use kindness first then roughness okay?" Star whispers to Heart who lightly nods.
"Why are you following us?" Heart questions the little one as he looks behind him.
"Um... I'll always follow you both around mom and dad!" Umasou says happily.
"I see. But Umasou, there are times parents want to be alone.
*Turns around to face Umasou and does the kindness approach first*
So wait for us back where you were, okay?" Heart says semi-cutely to the little one.
As Star does her best not to laugh at Heart, she couldn't help but admit that he's trying to be a good parent.
"Got it!" Umasou says not completely understanding what his dad was asking of him.
"Good kid." Heart says as he gets up to leave.
Just as he was about to leave, Star hears Umasou starting to follow them again.
"Uh, you do realize he didn't get it right?" Star says as she reminds Heart that this is a baby that he was talking to.
*Turns around quickly and uses the really rough approach now*
"Do you understand?!
*Star eyes widen in shock and tries not to laugh her tail off, while Heart places Umasou near the meadow and lays down the law.*
You wait here, we'll be back soon! He could have been eaten." Heart says in concern as he walks off with Star close behind him as she tries to contain her laughter.
Thankfully the two rexes found some herbivores eating and decided to go ahead and catch at least a really big one. As the two finished eating their meal, they both figured it was time to head back before Umasou gets worried.
"Phew I'm full. Did he wait? Now that we're done, let's head back." Heart suggests as Star finishes her last bite.
"Yeah let's go Heart." Star agrees and runs off with Heart.
"How did I end up being a father?" Heart questions.
"Well that's like asking me how I became your mentor Heart." Star says as she runs with Heart back to the meadow.
At the meadow
Umasou lays down in the middle of the meadow full bellied and wondering when his parents were coming back. Even though he was unaware of the current danger that he was in.
"I wanted to eat with dad and mom." Umasou says as he tries to figure out how he can eat with his parents.
As an unknown carnivore dinosaur goes up to Umasou, the little one doesn't notice that he's in trouble.
"You are tasty looking." Male dinosaur says as he gets ready to eat Umasou.
"Huh? You know me?" Umasou questions in confusion.
"Of course. If I eat you, you'll be crunchy and tasty." Male dinosaur says as he gets ready to eat.
"Crunchy?" Umasou questions.
Just as the brute was opening his mouth, two voices were heard on the wind.
"Stop!" Heart shouts trying to run faster to get to Umasou.
"Oh hell no!" Star shouts in ferocity and runs really fast towards Umasou lightning tail whips the intruder away and sends him fly to the other side of the area.
"You're not wanted here." Heart says as he looks at the long gone dinosaur.
"Cool! But why did you send him flying mom?" Umasou questions as he looks at the female.
"You idiot! He was going to eat you! If you're not careful they'll always target you!" Star says in a scolding way like she did when Heart was a youngster.
"Is that so? Thanks mom and dad! You both are so cool! I want to be as strong as you both!" Umasou says as he tries to copycat Star's move.
"Do you really understand?" Heart questions as he looks at the boy.
Time skip to the middle of the afternoon
After a few minutes of talking, Star agreed to be there for the little one. But the second the two rexes turn around, the baby was completely gone.
"He doesn't know anything! We take our eyes off him for a second... Umasou, where did you go?!" Heart shouts in frustration.
"Umasou! Where are you kiddo this isn't funny!? Umasou!" Star shouts as she looks around for the kid.
'And my mom wonders why I'm not in a big hurry to get married and have kids of my own yet sheesh.' Angie/Star says in her mind even though Azukirius is just laughing his pages off.
Somewhere else near the Berry Grove
Umasou sniffs around looking for some berries to eat. And when he gets to the top of the cliff, he happily eats them and sees more.
"Yay, there's more!" Umasou says as he quickly starts gathering up some berries to take to his parents.
As the young dino was about to leave, he drops two berries and tries to pick them up. Until an old dinosaur was there and got Umasou's attention.
"Hey, Hard Shell. What are you doing with those berries?" The old dino questions.
"I'm..." Umasou says unable to say more.
Back with Star and Heart
As both rexes run around looking in cracks and bushes in the valley, they both become more and more worried about the baby.
"Umasou! Umasou! Umasou! Umasou!!" Heart shouts looking in the cracks.
"Umasou! Where did you go Umasou?!" Star questions as she looks around the brush while scaring the other animals out of there.
"Where did you really go off to?" Heart questions hoping that the baby wasn't eaten.
"You guys didn't eat Umasou, did you?!" Star questions in deep concern.
"We, we haven't eaten anything!" The two raptors say in horror at the female T-Rex running behind them in a menacing way.
"You better not have or so help me I make appetizers out of the both of you!" Star threatens as she joins up with Heart.
"Umasou, where did you go?!" Both T-Rexes shout in worry.
After a good hour or so, the two rexes went back to the meadow and heartbroken since they couldn't find Umasou.
"Did someone really eat him? Umasou." Heart say sadly as Star sits next to him in comfort.
"Dad, Mom." Umasou says as he walks up to the rexes.
The two quickly both get up feeling relief, shock, and anger all at once but, Star knew how to keep calm while, Heart hasn't had much experience with it before. So he was literally freaking out like crazy.
"Look, they're really tasty. Since you and mom don't like grass, I brought you both these instead. Let's eat them toge-" Umasou was interrupted by Heart's roar and anger heck even Star stayed out of it.
"Idiot! Why were you out alone?! If someone like you is out alone, anyone can eat you! I was worried you had been taken, even your mom was worried sick too!
And you come back all cheery! Go be someone else's kid!" Heart says in complete anger.
"Heart!!! That's enough already, Umasou gets it now, cut it out!" Star says angrily at Heart knowing he crossed the line.
Before anyone could say anything else, Umasou starts crying while hiding behind or in this case under Star and explains why he was gone.
"I'm sorry! I wanted to eat with you dad and mom." Umasou says as continues to cry.
"Eat what?" Both Star and Heart say in unison.
When they both looked towards the berries, the two realized that Umasou gathered their favorite red berries. And that's when they both new that Umasou was trying to surprise them.
Star's POV
When I finally put two and two together, I knew that Umasou was just trying to surprise us. As I looked down to see Umasou still crying, I started to think of a way to calm the poor baby down.
"Oh come here Umasou. There, there we get now. You just wanted to surprise us that's all. There now, no more tears dear it's okay."
I held Umasou close to me and careful pats his back. After that I gently rubbed his head while whispering calming words to him.
'All those years of using my skills of calming down my baby sister and cousins are really pay off.'
"Okay, look.
*Heart tosses a berry into his mouth and chews/swallows it*
It's delicious, Umasou." Heart say he eats another one and happily give one to me.
"Really?" Umasou says as he stops crying and looks at me and Heart.
"It really is, Umasou. It's really delicious." Heart says he smiles at Umasou.
"I agree, it's really good and delicious Umasou but next time, just tells us before you run off."
"I'm glad. And I promise mom from now on I'll tell you and dad about what I want to do." Umasou says as he looks at us happily.
"You did a really good job of carrying them on your back. But like mom said tell us where you want to go next time and one of us will go with you." Heart says as he looks at the now happy Umasou.
Time skip to the evening
As Heart and Umasou went off home, I couldn't help but feel sad that I had to leave them before nightfall. But then again, I can't have either of them finding out that I'm a human.
When the sun went down, I transformed back into a human and looked towards Heart's home and wondered what would happen if he found out about my secret.
"Hm I guess I'll just never know since Heart will never get to see me as a human. But if he were to, I guess he would freak out and Umasou probably would too.
Heh oh well, I guess I better get some sleep since Heart is going to be training Umasou."
