Percy's Pov
The trio walk out of the bathroom, and I finally come out of the stall. I wait a few minutes and then get out. The quidditch game was about to begin and everyone was out on in the training grounds. I'm walking towards my dorm when suddenly I hear someone calling my name.
"Jackson!" I look back and see the blond guy walking up to me, his friends following behind him.
"I don't think we have met. I'm Malfoy. Draco Malfoy. And this are my friends, Blaise, Marcus, Chloe, Adrian and Evan." He says, pointing at everyone.
"We were wondering if you'd like to sit with us to watch the game, if you don't have anything else to do" Chloe added. I think about it for a second, but I didn't have anything else to do except for staring at the ceiling with no thoughts.
"Yeah sure" I say.
We head towards the quidditch stands and sit down. The game already started, and people are shouting and screaming, Quidditch is easy enough to understand. Each team has seven players, three chasers, two beaters, one keeper and a seeker. About twenty minutes later, Harry catches the seeker and Gryffindor wins.
"Well, that's a surprise, couldn't see that happening in a million years." Blaise says sarcastically.
"Shut up, now we have to hear him talk about how amazing he was at the game all week long" Chloe laughs.
The next day
Today everyone was nervous because of Snape's exam on potions. Students have been studying all week not sleeping a blink. I on the other hand, haven't even opened the book.
I'm in Snapes classroom waiting for him, everyone is chattering, sitting near the steaming cauldrons. When suddenly the door slams open and Snape comes rushing in.
"There will be no foolish wand waving or silly incantations in this class. As such, I don't expect many of you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art that is potion making. However, for those select few... who possess the predisposition, I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory and even put a stopper... in death" Snape says as the exams fly to everyone's desks.
About five (ish) minutes later, we start the exam and I'm stuck in the last question, the sound of the quills hitting the paper was distracting me.
I look at Hermione and notice her writing with the pen I gave her and smile to myself.
"Is something funny Mr. Jackson?" Snape scolded. I look back at my paper, 'what would you get if you added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?' I circle in 'Draught of Living Death'
"I said, is something funny Mr. Jackson?" Snape repeated.
"No" I answer.
He stands up from his seat and walks towards me, I do my best not to roll my eyes at him. Now the sound of the quills hitting the paper stopped and everyone was looking at me.
Snape takes away my test, "Detention Mr. Jackson, please get out of my classroom" Snape orders. I get out of my seat and exit the classroom, as angry as I am with him, I decide just to let it go.
My next class is flying and there's no way in Hades I'm going to get up in a broom and fly around like a bird so Zeus can blast me out of the sky with a lightning bolt. So I'm going to skip it (like I always do) and head towards Hagrid's hut instead.
I walk towards the hut and knock on the door. "It's open!" Hagrid screams from inside. Hagrid's hut is a small wooden house on the edge of the forbidden forest made out of wood and rocks. The inside is small but cozy, with all types of stuff hanging from the walls. I open the door and see Hagrid grabbing something from the fireplace. He looks back and smiles. "Oh hello Percy, what can I do for ya?" he says.
"Nothing in particular just wanted to see what you were up to." I take a seat in one of the chairs and let myself fall down a bit. "Eh well, right now I'm quite busy" he says as he takes his hand out of the fireplace and hurries over and grabs some gloves. "Ay is hot" he chirped. Next thing I know Hagrid is bringing some sort of egg and places is on the table.
"I won it. Off a stranger I met down at a pub. Seemed quite glad to be rid of it, as a matter of fact." Hagrid smiles.
The egg rattles and cracks open as pieces fly off; a small baby dragon emerges. It squeaks and slips on an egg piece. I sit up straight to get a good look at it.
"Is that a Norwegian Ridgeback?" I ask him.
"Yeh, know your dragons don't you? They are very rare, first time seeing one?" he questions.
"Maybe, I don't know, not really" I mumbled.
"Isn't he beautiful? Oh. Bless him, look. Hehe. Hallo, Willy." The dragon squeaks at Hagrid.
"Willy?" I chuckle.
"Yeah, well, he's got to have a name, doesn't he?" he raises a finger back and forth across Willy's chin. "Shouldn't you be in class right now?"
"Yeah" I say simply.
When the class is over I say goodbye to Hagrid and take the stairs to the fourth floor, and to my amazing luck I bump into Madam Hooch, the flying teacher..
"Oh well nice of you to let me know your alive Mr. Jackson." She says, her hawk yellow eyes glaring at me. "Detention for skipping my class, and I'll let Mr. Dumbledore know too." She added while walking away.
The day went pretty fast after that and before I knew it, I was being led to Hagrid's hut again by Filch. He was in charge of detention and all that stuff, I found it weird how detention was at night and not during the day like normal people do it. I wasn't the only one who had detention though, I recognize some of the students in Hufflepuff and Slytherin, and Luna is there too.
"A pity they let the old punishments die. There was a time detention would find you hanging by your thumbs in the dungeons. God, I miss the screaming." Filch says as he walks in front of us. "You'll be serving detention with Hagrid tonight. He's got a little job to do inside the dark forest"
We get to the hut and Hagrid's eyes stare at me.
"Percy! Here again, aren't you? Hehe. Well. We must be going then. C'mon" Hagrid says.
"The forest? I thought that was a joke! We can't go in there. Students aren't allowed. And there are...werewolves" Evan says. I recognize him, he was one of Draco's friends.
"There's more than werewolves in those trees, lad. You can be sure of that. Nighty-night." Filch says as he leaves to go back into the castle.
"Right. Let's go" Hagrid says as he walks towards a path entering the forest and we follow behind him. The forest is massive and really dark, it was thick with trees as well as undergrowth such as knotgrass and thorns, but there were paths, brooks, and some clearings. According to Hagrid, the forest is a very old place that holds many secrets and houses many creatures, some dark and dangerous, others friendly.
A strange howl like a wail plays from afar, it doesn't sound like a wolf though. A large, cloaked figure runs through the trees. Hagrid suddenly stops.
"What was that?" Luna whimpered.
"What were here for. There's something in these woods but I don't know what, its eating all the rabbits. So it's our job to find the beast."
"Hagrid there's no way this is safe I want to go back." A boy in Gryffindor says, shaking in fear. Yeah. super brave.
"Oh don't worry about it, nothing will happen." Hagrid assures the boy. "I don't think so anyway." Before the boy can protest Hagrid interrupts him.
"Alice, Megan and Steve you'll be group one. Theodore, Finn and Gwen you'll be group two. And for last, Luna, Evan and Percy group three." Great.
"Off yall go then." Hagrid orders.
We head towards the east side of the forest and begin walking. Looking for what exactly? I have no idea.
"I can't believe were doing this. This is servant's stuff." Evan complains.
"If I didn't know better, Evan, I'd say you were scared." Luna says.
"Scared. Really? That's pathetic" He scoffs.
A twig snaps, Evan jumps and Luna stops waling. For Gods sakes. "W-What was t-that?" Evan shivers.
"A twig snaping. Continue walking" I say. At this point I'm tired and just want to go inside the castle but with Luna and Evan stopping every time they hear a sound I'll be leaving this place tomorrow. I grab riptide and start to fidget around with the pen.
"Why do you always carry that pen with you?" Luna asks. I don't answer and just walk ahead.
"Yeah great talk" she says under her breath.
I continue walking ahead of them and approach a flat ground with gnarled roots all over and stop.
"What is it why did you stop?" Evan asks behind me. Up ahead is a minotaur who is crouching over a dead rabbit eating its insides.
Evan and Luna scream in pure fear and run away as quickly as possible. The minotaur bellows of rage I quickly grab uncap riptide. With an angry roar it began charging towards me, I leap straight up, kicking off from the creature's head, using it as a springboard, turning in midair, and landing on his neck. With riptide in my hand, I stab it in the neck. The monster disintegrates and I fall down in the ground.
"Over here! Its over here!" Luna screams from afar. I put riptide away and slide it inside my pocket and stand up quickly. Everyone hurries over, Hagrid has his crossbow ready, but lowers it when he sees nothing.
"Where did it go?!" Evan shrieks.
"Um it ran." They all gave me a puzzled look. "That way. Um. It went that way." I say, pointing at a random path behind me.
