The girl pulls the paint bin from her cupboard, digging until she works the darkest hue to the surface. She grabs folded newspaper, illegible from past painting projects, from the sides of the box. She spreads it across her Step 2 Art Desk and gets to work painting each of her beloved movie soundtracks: The Cheetah Girls, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, Zenon Girl of the 21st Century. Once dried, the girl grabs one of her mother's knitting needles, nestled in dusty yarn balls in the living room. With patience, the girl uses the knitting needle to create non-intricate and imprecise mandalas of swirls and stars, scraping through the black paint to reveal the iridescence underneath.
