Chapter 7
****
Josh and I were cuddled on his bed watching The Game Plan/
“Why are we watching this?” Josh asked for the ninth time.
“I don’t know”
“I love you”
“I love you too” I said kissing his cheek then turned back to the movie.
“That’s all I get, what am I your uncle?” he joked.
“I’m sorry, baby did you want more?”
“Yeah!”
“I’ll think about it”
“I’ll help” he crashed his lips into my neck.
“That’s not fair” I said truing my body around so I saw facing him.
Our lips connected and Josh and I fell backward on the bed, with me on top of him.
****
The next morning I was awakening by the sunlight.
I rolled over and felt something missing.
I opened my eyes and looked around.
I couldn’t find Josh, but I did find a letter.
I opened it and read it.

Violet,
I went to church, I was going to wake you and ask you to come, but you looked so peaceful. I’ll be back around one.
Love you
Josh.

I smiled and pick up my clothes on the floor and changed into the extra clothes I brought.
I decided to stay at Josh’s house, since my parents are still away.
I made myself breakfast and cleanup my mess.
I did my homework and watched old ‘I Love Lucy’ episodes.
The door bell rang somewhere around twelve o’clock.
I got up and answered it.
It was Matt.
“Hey” I said.
“Hey, what are you doing here?”
“I slept over. Josh isn’t here, but you can come in,”
“Thanks, I didn’t know what time he came back from church,”
“He said he’ll be back around one. What are you here for?”

“English Project”
“Oh,” I walked into the kitchen to get a glass of water.
Matt followed me. “Hey, Violet?”
“Hmm?”
“About me kissing you a week or so ago. I’m sorry, but there’s something about you the draws me in” he was right in front of me now. He ran in fingers through my hair. I saw his eyes flickered to my lips and I panicked.
“Okay, um, I think you should leave” I said walking passed him.
He grabbed my wrist and pulled me in front of him.
“Why are you afraid of me?”
“I’m not afraid of you, I’m afraid of what you will do. This isn’t right”
“Then why does it feel this way?”
Before I could answer him he crashed his lips into mine.
I didn’t kiss back right away, I was too stunned to.
He backed me up against the wall and pulled me closer to him.
I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him closer to me.
He lifted me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist.
He took off his shirt and continued to kiss me.
Matt sat me down on the small table Josh has in his kitchen.
My hands roamed Matt’s body as he’s roamed mine.
I abruptly stopped and pulled away. “No! We have to stop. This isn’t right. You have a girlfriend and I have a boyfriend,”
“Doesn’t it make this all the more fun?” he crashed his lips into mine again.
I kissed back, without thinking and we picked up where we left off.
Matt was about to take my shirt off when…

Matt was about to pull my shirt off when I heard the key go into the key hole.
I pushed Matt away from me and jumped off the table. I grabbed my glass of water and ran into the living room. I lied down and tried to act like I was here all along/
The front door open and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas walked in.
“Hi Mr. and Mrs. Thomas” I said smiling at them.
“Hello sweetly” Mrs. Thomas said as Mr. Thomas nodded his head.
“Hey there beautiful, Hey, man, what are you doing here?” Josh asked.
“Project”
“Oh right” Josh said jogging up stairs to his room.
“I’m sorry again” Matt whispered in my ear and quickly kissed me and ran upstairs.

Matt’s Point Of View
I didn’t know what came over me.
Violet’s right, what I’m doing is wrong.
I shouldn’t be kissing her when I’m dating Maya and she’s dating Josh.
Josh is my best friend; I couldn’t do that to him.
I walked into his room and sat down on his bed.
I thought about Violet and the kiss in the kitchen. It felt so right yet so wrong at the same time.
“Okay, I almost finished it” Josh said handing me our poster,
“Thanks”
“Yeah,”
“Josh, can I ask you a question?”
“Yeah, what’s up bro?”
“What do you think of me and Maya?”
He looked shocked at that question. “What do you mean?”
“I mean, if we broke up what would you think?”
“That you’re crazy! You were trying to get with Maya since the fifth grade. You guys have been dating for about six years. Okay, what girl stole your heart?”
“Why would you think that?”
“I know you”
I ran my fingers through my hair and sighed. “Fine, there is a girl, but you don’t know her” I partly lied.
“I knew it” he laughed.
“Shut up. She’s taken anyway”
“And so are you” he reminded me.
“Yeah, I know, but I’m thinking about breaking up with Maya though,”
He shook his head. “Whatever makes you happy, man”
I got up from the bed with our project in my hands. “Later bro”
“Later”
We walked out of his room together and I left without looking at Violet.

 Violet’s Point Of View

What am I going to tell Josh? Your best friend kissed me twice? I can’t say that,
How can Matt say he’s sorry for kissing me and then kiss me again?
When did my life get so complicated?
Josh and Matt came downstairs.
Matt left and Josh made his way over to me.
“Hey”
“Hey”
“How was church?”
“Good, do you want to go to the park?”
“Yeah, let’s go”
Josh grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the house.
We walked hand in hand to the park and laid down on the grass.
“Look at that cloud, it looks like an elephant,” Josh laughed.
I laughed with him and continued looking at funny shaped clouds.
****
Josh and I had a fun do-nothing-day together.
My parents came back home around three and we went out to dinner.
After dinner I finished my homework and went to bed.
*****
This week at school was crazy.
Everyone was getting ready for the bug game on Friday. I hardly saw Josh after school, because of football practice.
Friday quickly and the school was even crazy than before.
The whole school was wearing school colors, there were banners everywhere, and our school mascot walked around the school.
Before the game there was a pep rally to get everyone even more excited.
****
It was time for the game and I was getting ready to leave. I wore our school colors which are red and white.
My parents drove me there and we sat together.
“Hello everybody, we are in for an exciting game tonight. The Robertson High Ravens against The Montgomery West Lions” the announcer said over the crowd. “Here are the Ravens”
Everyone from my school cheered as the team ran out onto the field.
I spotted Josh in the front of the line and smiled to myself.
“And there are the lions,” the other school cheered for there team.
Josh took off his helmet and looked in the crowd. I knew he was looking for me.
I got up and ran down to the field.
“Hey!” I called to him.
“Hey, I was looking for you.”
“I know, that’s why I’m here. Good luck, out there”
He crashed his lips into mine. “Thanks bade,”
I smiled at him and went back to the belchers.
