“The man of the hour!” Craig Sullivan cried happily, slinging an arm over Harry's shoulder, more than half drunk already as they prepped for the New Year’s event.

Mia rolled her light brown eyes before smoothing down her fur lined coat. “Are you ready for this?” She asked cocking her head so that her long dark locks could be seen almost shining in the New Year’s ornamental lights.

Harry gulped as he stared at the woman in front of him that reminded him so much of Hope that sometimes it felt hard to breathe. But she wasn’t Hope. She was Mia Halloway his co-host for the New Year’s gig.

Mia raised a brow as she saw him gulp. “I’m not that scary Harry Styles.” She said before throwing her head back and laughing. “I’m really not nearly as bad as the magazines report. Though if you prefer that…” She said before winking and turning around to walk away from the two males.

“That woman’s out to get you. I hope you know that.” Craig said laughing. “Oh to be young, handsome, and famous.” He sighed before he too left Harry standing there with one more assuring pat.

No, definitely not Hope. Harry said to himself before looking out the window where a steady fall of snow was continuing. Seeing his reflection, he couldn’t help but think that he looked honestly a little bit pathetic. It was New Years, one of the greatest days to party, to drink, to be merry, and here he was. Looking more than disinterested in the world and wallowing in the fact that Hope wanted to talk to him, but he was too much of a coward to answer her texts or call her back.

We need to talk.

He knew what those words could mean. They could mean that he could lose Hope forever and that was something he wasn’t yet ready to hear. Or to acknowledge.

“You’re a complete moron Harry Styles. Why couldn’t you have just waited…” He began to trail off however as he vividly saw the silver ring on Hope’s hand. Who was he kidding? Waiting. He was running out of time. The sand dial was running out of sand with every day that passed.

“And wasn’t that a great performance?” Mia asked grinning at the camera before looking over at Harry.

“Yes it most certainly was.” Harry smiled back at the camera, resisting the urge to shiver as an extra cold breeze seemed to blow by. He couldn’t wait till they went back into the studio, but they had to interview a few more of the people waiting around Big Ben.

“I bet you would’ve been better.” Mia said whispering into Harry’s ear when the recording went from them to a live feed of other celebrities around the area.

“Thank you.” Harry replied, grinning as best he could to keep up appearances that he was happy and fine.

Hope looked down at her cell phone. Sighing, she closed her eyes as she remembered seeing Harry standing there on the porch and pouring all this feelings for her. But what could she say? That yes she liked him too, but Mark… who she loved. Who had known her since she was a rather awkward freshman when hehelped her find her classroom as well as carry her math teacher’s textbooks to the class. Who was her first kiss and treated her like as if she was truly all there was. That no one else was there, in terms of females of course. It was just her. No one else compared, according to him.

How did this all happen? Didn’t she tell the shameless boy to not to see her more than a friend?

Hope covered her face with her hands, trying to breathe deeply. But the more she thought about it, the harder it was to do so. Because her problem was that Harry had sneaked his way into her heart so deeply that nothing he did could change that. Hope would do anything for him; she would drop everything and get to him if he needed her. But was that love? Was that enough?
