"Will you marry me?" He asked.

She froze; the money falling to her lap. She stared at him for a moment and then she laughed softly. "You're joking right?"

He shook his head before leaning forward to grab a hold of her now shaking hands. "Will you marry me Annabelle Skye?"

She couldn't see his eyes behind the dark lenses and at that moment she really wished she could. He continued to watch her as he waited for her answer. She knew why he asked her. He just wanted to prove a point. To prove that you don't need to love someone in order to marry them.

He didn't love her. He didn't even know her and yet she was actually considering his proposal. She would be mad to agree and yet she couldn't find a reason to say no and walk away. Just like Nick, she believed very little in lasting love; life had taught her that lesson a long time ago. Even though Nick wasn't proposing a marriage of love, he was proposing something far more valuable to Annabelle.

He was proposing stability; security and comfort in the mundane and familiar.

She craved that. She longed for it.

Having made up her mind, she looked towards Nick and replied. "Yes."
