Violetta Malfoy had gone her entire life knowing that she was looked down on. It didn't take her long to realize that she didn't and would never fit in with the rest of her family. That everyone thought she was unworthy and that she shouldn't even be part of the Malfoy household. But she took it in stride. She didn't let her parents or her brother tell her who she could or couldn't be, even when she wanted nothing more than to fit in.

The second she was sorted into Gryffindor, it was over. There was no coming back from that, not in the Malfoy's eyes. She was an outcast, a miscreant before she even had the chance to decide what she wanted for herself. So she leaned into it, she broke the rules, she embarrassed her family and ran their name through the dirt. She would hear all the time about how she was the next Sirius Black but she didn't care. All she cared about was making it through Hogwarts and then getting a job that took her far away from her family and everyone at that stupid school.

She didn't talk to anyone, not really. She much rather keep to herself. The only students she really talked to were the Weasley twins who rather dramatically parted the previous year. And occasionally, she'd talk to Hermione Granger, but not often. Because anytime they spoke, Harry Potter would emerge from thin air and he was the last person she wanted to speak to.

He was insufferable. Constantly hounding her for a date or even just a moment to speak to her. He'd shower her with gifts and candy and notes but she didn't want any of that. She just wanted to be left alone, to go unnoticed and off everyone's radar. But all he seemed to want to do is notice her. She pitied him, a bit, which is funny, the more you think about it. Who would pity the Chosen One? Violet, that's who. Because of all the girl's he could have chosen, he chose the one who would forever be unattainable to him. And she always would be.
