Part One: Mystery

Prologue

I came to on a cold, hard floor I didn't recognise. Where was I? Who was I? How did I end up here? In an effort to try and remember, I attempted to push myself off the ground, immediately regretting it. Pain shot through me like an electric current, shocking me back into unconsciousness.

When I returned to the world for the second time, I was in a pristine white room. A hospital room. My body ached. Wincing, I raised one arm to my head. A bandage wrapped around my forehead, clearly concealing a large gash beneath it. My hand was deep red and sticky with blood. My blood. My arms were bandaged; one above my elbow; the other below.

Everything hurt, like a thousand stabbing knives. I took inventory of my body, twitching each part one by one from my head down. When I moved my leg, it felt wet. I didn't know why. Curiously I peeled back a corner of my blanket. Blood was oozing from the bandage, which was now entirely maroon coloured. I screamed. A dozen nurses rushed in, one added something to my IV. It made me feel drowsy, and I fell unconscious again.
