POV: 3rd person
2 days after the funeral

Hinata sat, her knees against her chest, staring at the grave, she knew it but her mind wouldn't process it.

Neji was dead... And she had to face it.

He wouldn't be there for her like he used to be, he died trying to protect her and now he couldn't even do that anymore. Hinata stared at the ground, she wondered what would've happened if he had let her take the wooden stakes, maybe he would still be here. Maybe he would've been able become the heir and change the laws of the Hyuga, fulfilling. But Neji chose his fate, he chose to protect her, and he wouldn't want her to waste time weeping.

Hinata stood and took a shaky breath, though her heart still felt heavy, there she made a silent promise, no one would need to protect her not anymore. Hinata would train until she didn't need protection and no one had to died for her or ever get hurt. She laid the white flowers she bought from Ino on his grave and knelt down and traced Neji's name. Hinata never notice when started she was crying.

"So this is where you were." Someone said behind her, she turned around and saw Kiba and Shino standing behind her. Kiba seemed to just notice the grave behind her and turned more sorrowful, he knelt beside her and gave her a hug. Akamaru licked her face.

"Will you help me train?" Hinata asked once they separated, her voice cracking slighly.

"Of course we will, that's because we are your friends." Shino said while Akamaru barked in agreement.

"We will start tomarrow." Kiba said as he stood and offered his hand to Hinata.

"Thank you guys" Hinata said quietly and she wiped her tears away, she looked at Neji's grave one more time and then she left with Kiba and Shino. The next days turned to weeks but Kiba and Shino kept true to their promise to Hinata and they trained together everyday.

POV: Naruto
Tuesday
Evening
Streets of Konoha

It was dark and chilly, it almost winter and I was walking back home after eatting some ramen with Shikamaru. I saw Kiba carrying Hinata on his back, they were coming from the training fields and he looked worried, I decided to go over to them.

"What happened?" I asked. Hinata looked unconcious, Kiba had wrapped his jacket around her, but I could see her arms and face had bruises and cuts.

Kiba stopped walking and turned to me "While we were training Hinata fainted due to chakra loss and fatigue. Hinata didn't tell us that wasn't she feeling good and then she fainted out of nowhere." He told me frustratedly, while adjusted her into a more comfortable position.

"Where is was Shino?" I asked.

"He was out on a solo misson so he wasn't with us." Kiba explained.

"I could take her home if you want?" I offered, but Kiba shook his head and gave me a look.

"How do I know your not going to try anything funny? Also I hate to mention this minor detail, but you don't have your other hand." Kiba said, nodding towards my empty sleeve that flapped with the wind.

"First of all I would never dream of doing anything like that to Hinata. Second, why do you think I would even think of doing that?" I asked, glaring at him.

"Look, you always tried to look at women in the bath house so why do you think I would leave you with Hinata, who also happens to be unconscious. " Kiba said, Akamaru barked in agreement then they started to walk away from me, and I started to walk beside them.

"Where are you taking her then? How do I now you aren't going to try something funny?" I asked glowered at him.

"You realize me and Hinata have been on the same team for years right? Plus why would you care, you barely talk to Hinata and always said she was a weirdo." Kiba raised an eyebrow, I scowled at him.

"She's one of my friends why would I not care?" I asked, as we turned a corner.

"If she was your friend then you would know what her favorite food was." Kiba said, he smirked when I paused.

"It's obviously ramen." I said, I mean how could anyone hate ramen.

"Baka! That's your favorite food, Hinata's favorite food are cinnamon rolls. If you want to be specific she really likes the ones from the bakery near the Kohona gates." Kiba said, then he sighed and turned to me looking grim, like I had a disease.

"Naruto, Hinata knows what you favorite food is. She also knows your scared of ghosts, which is pretty stupid by the way." He paused and looked at me seriously, "if you don't know anything about her, then how can you call her a friend?" Kiba said, looking at me with an expression I couldn't read.

"I-I" I looked away I knew I couldn't call her a friend. I turned to look at Hinata, her innocent sleeping face and I started to wonder what did I know about her. Other than the fact she was Neji's cousin and had a harsh childhood, I couldn't come up with anything. Hinata shifted and murmered something, Kiba sighed and turned away from me.

"I have to drop Hinata home see ya Naruto." He said, turning and walking in the direction of the Hyuga compound. I went towards my apartment thinking about what I did know about Hinata other than the general stuff you know when you meet her.

I laided in bed thinking, suddenly I got an great idea. I quickly sat up, I knew what I had to do! I will just have to find out more about Hinata, that'll prove to Kiba that me and Hinata are really freinds and he was wrong.
