I pulled into my building's small parking lot as Seth walked out carrying two bags of equipment to the rental van we would be driving. We all decided it would be best if we went in one car instead of splitting up the team between two cars, that way no one would get lost.

"How much more is there to pack?" I asked him as I got out of my car and walked towards him, helping to pile the bags.

"This is everything we've got packed, the only thing we need now is your key to the gun room so we can all get our weapons."

I nodded and walked towards the building to unlock the room. I wanted to get out of here as soon as we could so we could get this guy and get back.

The team followed me as I walked towards the gun room and took my keys out of my pocket. I unlocked the door and walked in first to unlock the gun cabinets since Seth was still outside, probably taking a smoke break.

"So, what took you so long to get here, boss?" Kyle asked as he grabbed his small black Glock 22 out of the gun cabinet and walked over to the pile of gun cases in the corner of the room, looking for a pistol case.

"I was taking Esther to school and then I had to go back to my house to get my suitcase."

"You know, boss, that girl's starting to turn you soft." Parker laughed as he set his own gun into a case and zipped it up.

"Shut your damn mouths and get your shit in the car." She was turning me soft for her, in some ways more than others, but I still wasn't going to put up with the teasing. "We're leaving in fifteen minutes, whether you're in the car or not, I don't care."

I pulled my phone out of my bag to check the time as I walked into my third period of the day, Physical Education. 9:40am, Ash and his team were probably just beginning their long drive. It had only been an hour or so since he dropped me off but it's like my body knew I wasn't going to see him for a while. I've had no motivation to do anything after Ash told me he has to go on a trip with his team.

I couldn't help but worry about him, this is the first time he's gone on such a long trip in the month we've been dating. It scared me that if something were to happen he would be hours away and I wouldn't be able to get to him quickly. I knew I wouldn't be much help anyway but I wanted to be there for him if he got hurt.

I tried to push those thoughts out of my head and focus on P.E, I told myself I could text him at lunch but until then I needed to focus.

"Everyone line up," Coach's voice boomed through the gym, making us all stop talking to each other and follow his instructions. "we're playing medic dodgeball today. Does everyone know and understand the rules and how to play?"

A couple 'yes' and 'no's were murmured throughout the line. A few of us have played it before, including me, but some of the people in our class are newer and since we haven't played it since last year, some haven't played before.

"Alright, for those who don't know," Coach walked up and down the line of students so everyone could hear him as he explained the game. "There will be two teams, each team will choose one person to be their medic. When you get hit with a ball, kneel down in the spot you're in, the medic's job is to run around and cure the people who are kneeling." Coach grabbed a ball and threw it from hand to hand as he talked. "Once your medic touches you, you may get back up and continue playing. Your goal is to hit the other team's medic and then hit every other player.  Once the medic is hit, they can not get back up. The last team standing wins."

Coach walked to the middle of the line and counted the people in line, dividing us into two teams. I silently cheered when he put me and Indi on the same team while Ava was on the other.
