I've written a number of literary novels that can be had in bookstores or (some of them, anyway) your e-reader. They include a satire called Mermaids in Paradise, a story collection called Love in Infant Monkeys, and most recently a kind of literary thriller called Sweet Lamb of Heaven.



But I've always loved books of other worlds, other realities, other natural rules, escapes for readers of all ages. So a few years ago I began to write books to cross over to younger and genre readers too - more or less fantasy books, with magic and shapeshifting and mythic creatures like selkies. And, of course, animals with telepathy.



Two have come out so far from Small Beer Press, in a series called The Dissenters - the first was The Fires Beneath the Sea (2011), the second was The Shimmers in the Night (2012). The final book, The Bodies of the Ancients, will be out in January 2017.
