Alexandra hears talk that the ship of the famous Captain James Eagle is nearby so, she sets out to find the ship in a long boat. She disguises herself as a man and becomes a stowaway. At first she's enjoying a life at see when things become a little more hectic...

Fifteen year old Layla and her twin brother Luke live in the country Palrainia with their grandmother. Every year, fifteen year olds travel from all over the country to Brayhen for the annual testing. The testing sorts all fifteen year olds into the six elements, Metal, snow, earth, water, air and fire, or send them back to their homes. Life in Palrainia Is not as peaceful as it seems. There is a threat coming and Layla discovers she is an important part of the coming war. With all the odds stacked against them will Layla and Luke triumph or will their fire die?
