In the mid 70s, when I was a Head of English at Hackney Downs School, I wrote some stories for children and Penguin published them ("The Ice Warrior and Other Stories" by Robin Chambers).

My heart was in education, however, and I went on to become Head of Clissold Park School and then the first Head of Stoke Newington School in Hackney, East London (with no time for writing stories). I told myself I would write again when I retired.

But when I retired (for the first time) life intervened and Amy and I looked after aged and increasingly ill parents for 7 years. Then we put two daughters through University and on the housing ladder and I went back to teaching English again - in Tytherington school in Macclesfield (Cheshire). There I ran a Writers' Workshop and we got an internal literary magazine going...

On retiring from that (at 65 years old) Amy and I took it into our heads to go and live in Belize for 3 years and help run the Orchid Garden Eco-Village Hotel (see www.trybelize.com)...

When we came back to the UK at the beginning of 2011, and I knew if I didn't start writing for children again at that point I never would (having run out of time). So I embarked on a story that turned out to be much longer than I thought it was going to be - stories do that to you sometimes, as I expect you know - about 4 children - 2 boys and 2 girls - born to make the world a better place. It is no easy task, and they face some formidable obstacles; but they DO have some powerful forces on their side...

The first 5 books in the series are now available from the Amazon Kindle Store at 99p each (or the dollar equivalent). Please visit my website - www.myrddinsheir.com - to find out more. I'm hoping you'll want to check it out, watch my video, and see if you'd like to get involved...

I remember the feeling! Assuming you get the grades you're aiming for, what's next?
