Chris Strange writes urban fantasy and other fantastika. He is especially fond of writing hardboiled stories with a noir influence. His goal is to deliver intense, humorous and sometimes dark stories to his readers. He also has a darker alter ego who writes crime and noir fiction as Harry St. John.

In his spare time, Chris is an unapologetic geek, spending far too long wrapped up in speculative fiction books, watching old zombie movies and playing computer games. He lives in the far away land of New Zealand, and occasionally he goes to university like he’s supposed to.

He doesn’t plan on growing up any time soon.

New chapters here on Wattpad every Saturday!

Hi everyone! After a bit of a hiatus from Wattpad, I'm back and posting chapters of my latest novel, Mayday: A Kaiju Thriller. This book is a dark mash-up of hardboiled detective fiction and Japanese kaiju cinema. If you like Godzilla or Pacific Rim, this is for you!

The first two chapters are already up, and there'll be a new one every Friday or Saturday until the entire book has been posted.

If you can't wait, you can get the whole ebook right now at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, or Apple. I'll leave the links below.

Thanks, everyone. Happy reading!

Thanks for your comment! I'm glad you enjoyed the first half of the chapter.

With regard to the swearing, I'm sorry you felt it was too much. It's always tricky to get the balance right. I can't remember if other chapters have this much swearing (it's been a couple of years since I originally wrote this), but if they do then I totally understand if you stop reading.

In my experience, swearing is one of those things (like violence and sex) that different people have different tolerances for. My personal opinion is that many people swear in real life, especially when they're in stressful situations. Therefore, many of my characters swear as well. Some, like the Carpenter, hardly swear at all, while others might swear a lot.

I don't personally consider it unprofessional to use profanity within a work of fiction if the situation is appropriate. Of course, the definition of "appropriate" will differ from person to person, so in the end all I can really do is listen to the voice inside my head and do what feels right for the story. I know I won't ever please everybody, but that's always the risk whenever you create something for an audience.

I hope you continue to read and enjoy the book, and I hope your experience isn't too spoiled by the profanity. Thanks again!

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. It should be available on Kobo, but I see that you're right. I'll check up on things and see what's up. Sorry for the inconvenience!

To make up for it, if you email me at chrisstrangeauthor@gmail.com I can send you a free EPUB copy of book 2 that you can load onto your Kobo.

Thanks Vance!
