Nozomi's POV
Chichiri split everyone up, Chiriko is with Chichiri, while Mitsukake, partnered up with Tasuki and Lien(I feel bad for MItsukake now) Of course Ice went where ever Lien goes, so I end up going along with Miaka, Tamahome, and Nuriko. Which before I could follow them Lien grab my arm giving me a serious look.
"Don't do anything reckless, you should worry about the other life," she said in a low voice confusing me, but I nodded even though I didn't understand.
I caught up to Nuriko grabbing his hand then walk-behind Miaka and Tamahome, but what Lien told me really got me worried and confused what did she mean by 'other life'? But suddenly we all heard a horrible roar, Nuriko put his arm around me pulling me closer in a protective manner looking around.
"W-what's that? What makes a sound like that?"
"A...wild dog?"
"No, it sounded more terrifying," I mumbled out clinging onto Nuriko.
"Hey, hey! Look at this! Did you see this old monument here?" Nuriko pointed out cheerfully, thankfully it got us to stop worrying about that awful sound.
"What is it?"
"There's a carving of Genbu on the top, do you think it might give us a clue about the Shinzaho somehow?"
"Could be, this is a good start then," I said cheerfully.
"What is all that? Those characters look like worm tracks."
"Hm...oh! Excuse me, ma'am? Could you read this for us, please?" Miaka asks an old woman.
"Oh, this no. This is an ancient language we stop using two hundred years ago," Hm two hundred years? Sounds familiar didn't the elder in that small village told us the Shinzaho was created two hundred years ago or something?
"Ancient language?"
"The only people who can read it now are learning scholars."
"I know someone who can read it." an unfamiliar male voice spoke up.
"Huh?"
"Are you all travelers in our country?" Frowning at this unknown man, he gives me bad vibes tugging on Nuriko's sleeve, he leans down slightly since he's taller than me.
"Yes, princess?"
"That guy...I don't trust him, he gives me bad vibes big time..."
He nodded "Yeah same, but we do need to find someone to translate for us so don't leave my side got it?" I nodded holding his hand again.
"Do you really know someone who can read this script?" Miaka asks in hope, I just hope he's telling the truth if not Nuriko and Tamahome will kick his ass.
"Yeah, my father knows how to read this thing. I'll take you to him right now, follow me."
"Come on guys! Let's go with him."
"Hold it," that same old woman stop Miaka from going after that strange man "I wouldn't if I were you, that man is well-known Nerdowell. It's true his father was a scholar, at one time but now he's fallen on some hard times."
"So don't come if you don't want to."
"I'll go, Miaka you stay with Nuriko and Nozomi and wait until I get back."
