Wednesday started with the sweet realization that school was out due to the virus. Score! Rare break like this calls for one thing: gaming marathon. No time wasted, straight to the console, and I hit up Rowley to see if he's down.

"Rowley?" I buzzed through the phone.

"Yeah, Greg?" Rowley's voice came through.

"Wanna come over for some game action?" I pitched eagerly.

"Sorry, Greg. Mom says we gotta social distance, so no go on that," Rowley replied, sounding bummed.

Bummer. No Rowley, but hey, more gaming for me, right? Just when I was getting into it, Mom calls from downstairs.

"Greg?!"

"Yeah, Mom?" I yell back, eyes glued to the screen.

"Put the controller down, kiddo. Social distancing rules apply," Mom reminds me.

"But Mom, isn't gaming inside enough social distancing?" I argue.

"Nope, kiddo. Gotta follow the safety drill," Mom lays down the law.

"Fine, what's the drill then?" I grumble.

"Wash hands, keep your distance, mask up," Mom rattles off.

"Mom, we've been over this in school. Can I game now?" I plead.

"Nuh-uh, Greg," Mom shuts it down.

Ugh, seriously? Why do I need to know all this virus stuff?

"Just listen to your mom, Greg. We're all in this," Dad chimes in from the other room.

Then, Rodrick busts out his "Loaded Diaper" tune, causing chaos.

"Rodrick?!" Mom snaps.

"What?" Rodrick fires back.

"Social distancing, remember?" Mom's on it.

"But Mom, the band's gotta jam!" Rodrick protests.

"Not with a virus lurking, Rodrick," Mom holds firm.

"So you want me to sit around twiddling my thumbs?" Rodrick challenges.

"Greg games, and I jam. What's the diff?" he points out.

"Not cool social distancing, Rodrick," Mom sticks to her guns.

"I don't care, Mom. I'm doing it," Rodrick rebels.

"Do it, and you're grounded," Mom lays down the law.

"Fine," Rodrick mumbles, clearly not thrilled about it.
