AFTER THE FIRST WEEKEND of the year passes, Lenore is met with a Monday consisting of potions class, Rosier's unbearable Quidditch talk, and dark eye bags. The day after they'd arrived at Hogwarts, schedules had been distributed at breakfast. The newfound freedom that comes with being a sixth year is a relief to Lenore but she knows that most of that spare time will be filled with tedious notetaking and studying.
Walking to Potions class with only Snape and Rosier by her side makes Lenore feel a bit empty. Without the presence of the three other members of their group, the trio is oddly silent. She's never thought she could possibly miss the sound of Avery's relentless japes or the sight of Mulciber's sulking face through the hallways. The three students walk with a purpose, Lenore leading while the two boys trail at both of her sides. Rosier steps out of his way to trip a small boy wearing a maroon and gold tie.
At first, she was surprised that Rosier had earned the appropriate grade to take potions at the N.E.W.T. level. On her O.W.L.S., Lenore had scored an Exceeds Expectations in potions while Snape had gotten a perfect Outstanding. Rosier had pulled through with an Exceeds Expectations as well, which is the lowest grade that you can receive to take Slughorn's class
