you could feel his stares at the back of your neck just waiting for you to give him some sort of attention.

you were trying to concentrate in transfiguration but all you could think about was your ex boyfriend, Draco Malfoy.

you both got together in year 3 after he subtly asked you out on a date and you stayed together ever since until he randomly ended things in the middle of their sixth year.. or so you thought.

you worked out he ended things because he was a death eater and probably didn't want you to be involved but it still hurt like a bitch when he told you that he didn't love you anymore, leaving you with no warning that the war was going to happen so soon.

you were shocked to see that he even came back this year you really thought he was just going to move on and leave all this mess behind. you wish he did so you could at least try and move on from him.

the two of you haven't spoke this year yet and we've been back for three weeks. you did keep catching him looking at you though which you would just brush off and look away from him.

"he's looking at you again" your friend Aimee whispers in your ear

"i know" i whisper not taking my eyes off of the teacher

"maybe you should just speak to him" she suggests

"no!" i quickly blurt out loudly causing a few stares around the room including the teacher who luckily just sends me a warning look before continuing

i snap my head at Aimee and raise an eyebrow at her
"are you insane?! there's no way in hell im speaking to him" i whisper yell at her

"ok well you have been miserable without him so" she shrugs

"no the war made me miserable" you tell her looking back at the teacher

"he did to" she says quietly

you sigh. you know she was right, he was a big reason why you were not at bright as you used to be.

"anyway you must still care otherwise you wouldn't still be wearing the ring he got you" she pointed out

you glance down at your ring he got you for your one year anniversary, it was a little snake with a green stone for its eye. you don't really know why you kept it on, after all he did say it was a promise ring and well the promise is well and truly broken.

"it's a pretty ring" you mutter

at the end of the lesson you quickly gather your things and leave the room

"y/n!!"

your heart stopped for a few seconds but your legs didn't, you continued your way to your common room pretending you didn't hear him

but he must have caught up with you as you felt him softly grab your wrist

you stop and sigh before turning around looking at the floor

"what?" you say so quietly it could have been a whisper

"can we talk? i just want to apologise-"

"apologise for what? lying to me? dumping me? choosing his side?" you snap
