Lena let out a sigh as she saw yet another gift at her desk. This had been the 3rd one in the week and she couldn't help but feel that you were trying to buy her love. She had been aware the it was difficult for you to express how you felt when the two of you started dating but Lena believed that you would open up as the weeks went by but you never did. Instead, you would just send Lena all kinds of gifts with little notes that she absolutely loved and appreciated but they didn't necessarily replace the fact that she hoped you would be more open about your feelings for her. She was always the one that initiated the kisses or the hugs that she sometimes thought that you didn't actually her. That you were just dating her because you had an ulterior motive. Lena never voiced her fears out loud in fear that she would upset you.
"(y/n), this is beautiful. Thank you."
You gave her a shy smile and walked up to help her put on the bracelet that you had custom made for her.
"You're welcome. Are you going to be working from home tonight?"
You asked as you watched her pull out some folders from her bag to set at her desk.
"Yeah, I was planning on staying and finishing them at the office but decided against it."
Nodding, you began to walk out of the office.
"Did you manage to eat some dinner before coming home?"
"Yeah, Kara stopped by when she saw that I was working late."
"Good. If you need anything just yell. I'll be at our bedroom."
Lena gave you a small smile and watched you leave the office. Once you're gone, her smile falls as she looks down at her wrist. She really needed to talk to you about this. Pushing her thoughts away, she sits down and begins to fill out the forms.

Lena rubbed at her eyes, trying to force herself to stay up and finish but it was impossible. She was literally seconds away from falling asleep. Deciding to just finish tomorrow, Lena stood up and headed to the bedroom where she found that you had grabbed her pillow to cuddle with. The sight made her smile. In a hurry to go to bed already, Lena quickly started to change into her pajamas when she starts to hear you sleep talking. Normally, she would think nothing of it since it was just random words and phrases but what you were saying wasn't random at all.
"love you, Lee.....Marry me?.....Will give you the world...I'm not perfect but I'm trying.....you deserve better.....someone.....tells you how they feel....not coward that shows affection with gifts."
Lena covered her mouth to muffle a loud gasp. Everything made sense, the fact that you never failed to give her a gift every week. How the gifts tended to be so meaningful rather than just grabbed at random. Giving gifts is your way to express your love. Finally in her pajamas, she joins you in bed, wrapping her arms around your midsection and holding you close to her.
"I love you so much, (y/n). I'm so stupid for not realizing that gifts were your way of expressing how you feel."
She mumbles to you. Kissing your cheek, she rests on the bed.
"I'll never doubt your love for me ever again."

You woke up to find Lena still holding on to you. It was late for Lena to be in bed already since she was an early riser so you were surprised that she was still in bed.
"Morning, love."
"Morning, Lena. Did you get to finish your work last night?"
"Nope, I figured that I would stay home and finish. Is that okay?"
You bit your lip, hiding the smile that she had caused. Lena was a workaholic that the only reason why she didn't go to work was because her life was in danger or yours was. This was a nice surprise.
"It is. I'm glad we'll be able to spend the day together."
"Me too. How about I cook us breakfast and we'll see what we can do with our free day?"
I'd like that."
"Good."
You weren't sure why she was in happy mood for the early morning but you didn't say anything. Simply just stood up with Lena and got ready for the day.
