The marathon finally came.

Before Barb got her number, Delta asked, "You ready?"

"Yep."

"You do your exercises?"

"Yep."

"What did you have for breakfast this morning?"

***

This morning, Barb cooked some eggs.

But, then she did the whole thing she usually does for dinner.

She put them in a casserole dish.

She poured two inches of powdered sugar.

Added the baby back ribs, marshmellows, and another two inches of powdered sugar.

Then, she threw it in the microwave for 45 minutes.

Barb answered, "Eggs. Just like you told me."

Delta made a look of suspicion, but then said, "Ok. Just remember to have fun, sugar."

Barb then took her number and joined Riff at the starting line.

Riff said, "Good luck."

Barb said, "Same to you."

But, Barb suddenly didn't feel so good.

King Quincy then started the announcement, "I want to personally thank you all for your participation. I just want you to remember that this marathon is not a personal competition. I just want you all to do your best and not worry about winning. So, have fun!"

Everyone cheered.

Queen Essence then used a starter's pistol to start the race.

But, Barb suddenly fell down.

Riff stopped, "What happened?"

Barb answered, "I must've had some bad eggs."

Riff said, "Let me help."

Barb said, "No. I was a fool to sign up for this marathon just to beat you. Now, you need to finish."

However, Riff said, "I'm not leaving you."

Riff then put her arm around his shoulders and helped her the whole way.

He was clearly getting exhausted, but he didn't stop.

Everyone watched with amazement and joy.

They were touched by Riff's actions.

***

It was an hour 'till midnight.

Riff carried Barb all the way to the finish line.

*Flash*

***

The next morning, the newspaper had put Riff's heroism in for a story.

Poppy said, "Wow, Riff. I can't believe you carried Barb 23 miles."

Barb then said, "Riff, I'm sorry for everything I said last week. I was wrong. And Delta, thanks for being such a great coach. I wish I had listened to your tips on my diet."

Delta said, "Don't worry 'bout it, darlin'. At least you learned your lesson."

Barb said, "Who's up for some victory shakes?"

The group looked at her.

She then started laughing.

Soon, everyone else joined in.
