A New Beginning

Cassandra Stone and...... Florida?

We drove for a while, listening to the radio and talking, remembering things that we had done together until my phone rang. Luke turned off the radio while I looked at the caller ID. 'Cass Stone' it said. I swore under my breath and answered as Luke laughed.

"WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU AND LUCAS, KATALAYA MARI NIGHT?!" I heard Cass yell over the phone.

"Cass, we're fine. I couldn't take Yelwah anymore after my rejection." I tired to explain to her.

"I DON'T GIVE A DAMN! YOU LEFT ME!" she calmed down considerably after that.

"I go to lunch and find that you two haven't been at school all day so I run home and what do I find? Y'all's empty rooms with no note or explaination as to where y'all have gone! I was worried sick!" she said.

"I know, I'm sorry, it was a spontaneous idea and I forgot 'bout you for a little bit." I apollogized.

"It's fine but stop at the next gas station." she said.

"Why?" I asked her,

"I'm gonna go with you guys!" she exclamied.

"No way Cass, I can't tear you away from your parents."

"They said I could leave with you guys if that would make me happy. Please Kat, pretty please" she begged.

"Cass there isn't much room left in Luke's truck and you don't have your license yet." By now Luke had pulled into the next gas station and was listening to us with his advanced hearing, he was looking at me pleadingly as well, silently asking if she could come with us.

"I won't take up much room and my folks could drive me out there 'cause I know y'all haven't gotten too far away yet, besides I know that Luke wants me there just as much as you do even if you don't want to admit it."

I thought it over for a bit, just for the anticipation, before saying, "Fine, I guess you can come, but after you get here, your parents have to leave before you find us in the parking lot because I don't want my aunt and uncle trying to convince me and Luke to go back." I heard a squel from the other end of the line before lots of chatter and russtling,

"Yay! Ok, I'll be there in a bit." she says before hanging up.

I put my phone up as Luke drags me into a hug, "The Three Wolfeteers at it again, against all odds and the world!" he exclamed as we laughed.

My grandma called us the Three Wolfeteers because Cass, Luke, and I have been best friends since we were pups. We didn't have to wait too long before I heard the familiar growl of my aunt's car and we looked around to see Cass standing out front of the gas station as her mom left. Cass walked into the store a few mins later came back out with a few bags. Luke honked at her, almost making her drop her stuff, and we both bust out laughing.

She walked over to the truck with a big glare on her face as we got out to meet her, still laughing. She was carrying a duffel bag, a leather purse, and a few of the bags from the gas station. Luke took the duffel from her and started looking to see how all three of our duffels could fit as Cass and I sat on the curb and talked.

"So what's in the bag?" I asked her as I pointed to her purse.

"Just my truck stuff, a pillow, I figured you would have a blanket we could share, my phone charger, and my earbuds." I nodded as Luke shouted victoriously.

We stood up from the curb to see that he had successfully packed all three of our duffel bags behide the seat without squishing them too much. We applauded him jokingly as we three piled into the truck, Luke driving, me in the middle, and Cass by the window.

As Luke started the truck and pulled out of the parking lot, Cass asked one of the questions I was dreading, "So, where exactly are we going?"

I heard Luke chuckle so both Cass and I looked at him, "Well, I was thinking that we could go to Tallahassee." he said.

"Florida?!" Cass and I asked him incredeously.

"Yeah." he said.

Cass and I shared an excited look before rolling down the windows and yelling, "WE'RE GOING TO FLORIDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!" With that the radio was turned back on and up as we drove on, off to Tallahassee, Florida.
