So I was going through my old registers and found a few songs which I am going to include in further chapters as well. This one, Darling Ophelia, is Hamlet's last song for his beloved Ophelia. The characters belong to Shakespeare's play Hamlet and I have simply taken inspiration from it to write this song.

Verse 1:

You chose your death, my Darling Ophelia

With flowers in your hair, you floated down the river

And I could not save my Darling Ophelia

You were a fresh rose, fated and destined to wither

Verse 2:

Tragedy it is when in years to come

They will read of us and our ultimate fates

As one heinous act made many succumb

How one king's murder ruined five lives

Breakdown:

We were young lovers but ah so tragic

Even thinking of it all renders a heartache

Chorus:

If I could, I would flow down the river

Holding you in my arms, keeping you near

Until the water takes course and swallows us

Hoping we wouldd be together in the life hereafter

Verse 3:

Your beauty uncompared, my Darling Ophelia

Your smile used to light up my soul each day

And after you left, my Darling Ophelia

The world turned bleak with no brightening ray

Verse 4:

Tragedy it is when we will be mentioned

In books, in literature and in poetic verse

They will know what became of greed and fraud

And how innocent love perished in its curse

Breakdown:

We were young lovers but ah so tragic

Even thinking of it all renders a heartache

Chorus:

If I could, I would flow down the river

Holding you in my arms, keeping you near

Until the water takes course and swallows us

Hoping we would be together in the life hereafter
