Twas the night before the pens home opener
When all through the city of pittsburgh
No one was stirring not even a couch
The jerseys were hung by the lockers with care
In hopes that uncle mario well soon be there
The fans were nested all snug in their beds
While visions of goals danced in their heads
And Fleury in his helmet and Greiss in his mask
Just settled their brains for. Long nights naps
When out on the ice there across such a crowd
The fans sprang from their seats to see what was the matter
Away from the bench Hornqvist skated like a flash
Tore off his gloves and threw a few slaps
The lights on the breast new watered ice
Gave the luster of midday to the puck below
When what to the fans wondering eyes should appear
But a mini zanboni with ten Dmen
With skaters so lively and quick
The fans knew in a moment it must be the Ducks
More rapid than Hawks, their skaters they came
The fans whistled and shouted and called each Pen by name

Now Greiss! Now Maatta!
Now Tanger and Duper!
On Kunitz! On Horny!
On Geno and Sid!
To the top of the glass!
To the top of the net!
Now skate away! Skate away!
Skate away all!

As dry sticks hit the ice before the puck would fly
When pucks meet the sticks the puck would fly
So up to the zone the skaters would fly
With zanboni's full of water and Mario too
And then in a blink of an eye the Fans heard the horn
The goal scoring penguins are back again
As the fans continued to cheer
Down the ice the pens skated
They were all dressed in black from helmet to skate
And their jerseys were tarnished in black and gold paint
A bundle of goals the pens have scored for their fans
And they looked like a cup winning team scoring on the ducks

The pens were like players! When they screamed and cheered!
Crosby was like a rocket when he got the puck in the pocket
The players and fans jumped to their feet when the goal horn started to blow
And the roar through the crowd was as loud as the goal horn
The pens held the puck tight in their zone
And the puck possession helped them have a lead of three to none
The pens had a broad idea of what they wanted to do
Then the second period started and the ducks got Two
The pens got up set and the fans did too
Pens got two more in the second to make it five to two
A wink from Johnston and a thumbs up from Malkin
Soon gave the pens a six to two lead at the end of the second
Johnson spoke not a word and went straight to his office
And changed the lines and pulled Fleury to put in Greiss
Returning to the team to tell them what he did
They all nodded and said LET'S GO PENS
The fans sprang to their feet, when the team came out
And the pens started to score goals and the fans started to shout
Out of nowhere there was a fight and the Refs had to stop it.
