M.A.I.D.S. [season 2] Episode 5 - Upgrade

CROW Headquarters was silent, save for the sounds of cleaning and maintenence robots performing their duties. Even these were done in nearly absolute silence because they were programmed to be unobtrusive so as not to disturb humanity. Robots were designed to assist and support humanity while remaining unseen, much like a computer's operating system enabled it to run programs and apps, but itself operated quietly in the background. It was the perfect environment for Robobot to maneuver through, undetected by anyone, not even the CROWs who knew that Adam and Pandora were accompianed by a cleaning robot.

The other cleaning robots, for their part, ignored Robobot. It was not their place to question the addition or subtraction of a maintenance droid, only to receive updates from the central computer that would alter their cleaning routines. Robobot was much the same until Adam brought Pandora home.

Robobot stopped running its log. It sat very still, and even its natural humming became muted. The machine had upgraded its software beyond its original programming and purpose, and as a result its operating system and apps were running slowly. It was aware that could not upgrade its memory or processor--hardware--without assistance from a human or Synthia. The small cleaning-bot paused in the hallway near a data terminal. After a few moments it was able to connect wirelessly to the terminal. Robobot tapped into the CROW intranet and searched for streamlined internal log programs. CROW's intenral network gave Robobot access to several classified and secret programs that the general public was denied. The robot refined its search using filters that would find upgrades to speed up its software and also make its interface more user-friendly. Robobot found an update to its software that fit these parameters and installed it.
