Single and bad, Sandra reminded herself as they lined up at the entrance of Cosmo Club. It was an expensive place to hang out at but despite the recession, the outside of the club was crowded with A-class party goers. She had made up her mind to have a good time tonight even if it means spending half of her pay. Just one more night to forget about him. Randomly, she remembered the crazy guy. She shrugged the thought almost physically.

“This is so unfair…You look like a femme fatale and I look like a porn star in a corset!” Sandra said in disgust, looking at her best friend.

Anna was wearing a red tight dress that revealed her exquisite curves and pushed up her breasts that made them tempting for men but threatening for other women.

Sandra was just one of the other women. She regretted how insecure she sounded.

“What are you talking about. You look great!” Anna exclaimed.

“I totally agree,” the guy behind Sandra said.

“See, he totally agrees!” Anna said pointing a hand at him.

Sandra gave him a quick look over her shoulders.

He looked nice but a can-i-get-into-your-pants kind of guy.  “I’m Derek,” he said inviting a hand shake.

Anna took it casually like she’s so used to guys introducing themselves to her. “Anna,” she shook his hand, “and this is my friend Sandra.

“The girl who looks sizzling hot in a corset,” he said offering his hand to Sandra

And you, the guy who’s fond of eavesdropping, she thought. “That’s me,” she forced a casual smile and shook his hand

“You girls might want to sit with me and my friends. I already have a table reserved inside, you know, VIP and all.”

What a show off. Sandra kept that smile on her face.

“Well, that’s great! We’d love a bigger company” Anne said excitedly and gave a we-just-got-lucky grin at Sandra.

“So let’s get the party started?” Derek winked at her.

Derek obviously had every right to show off when he led them to a private corner with a round white couch and a silky see-through curtain around the area. It didn’t need a sign on it to emphasize that only Very Important People can afford it.

He introduced Anna and Sandra to his friends.

Giovanni from Italy, was a son of a rich man who owns a wine factory in Sicily. Nick was a young automotive businessman. Lastly, the silent and attractive brown haired Leo who inherited a hotel business in Chicago.

Sandra felt slightly out of place after the introduction, opposite to Anna who immediately looked comfortable as soon as she sank into the couch. She’s never mingled with people as filthy rich as these guys. Matt’s family was well-off but these guys are young and over the top well-off.

“Ladies, drinks are on me,” Derek smiled rather salaciously at them.

=====

Four glasses of Margarita and forty five minutes later, they’ve learned everything about Derek. He seemed a very open kind of guy who takes pleasure in sharing his family assets, uncountable wealth, properties and ex-girlfriends. He’s never behind his friends, his family owns a furniture company supplying most of the prestigious hotels in the United States, one of which was Leo’s in Chicago.

Anna still looked very interested listening to Derek and was leaning too close to him now. She does know a thing or two about business as her mom is into it as well, though not as big-of-a-business as these guys are into and she knew he’d be quite a catch.
