THE NEXT DAY at school for Harlow was like hell.

All eyes were on Harlow as she walked down the school halls that morning towards her locker. Word must have gotten around of her and Vincent's break up and the rumours were absolutely brutal. After all it was high school and what type of school doesn't love rumours; especially if it was about the most popular girl in school.

The chatter was nonstop and soon people from left to right had their mouth's swinging wide open as they realised Harlow's black eye and ghostly appearance.

Harlow knew she couldn't blame them.
She looked like death itself.

She opened her locker and had the intense feeling to just jump in and hide from everything and everyone. Then she heard a familiar voice.

"Babe what the fuck happened to your face I was worried about you yesterday you never called me after school - I heard what happened", Lara said with worry in her voice whilst glaring at the bruise on Harlow's eye.

Lara was one of Harlow's closest friends and one of the only few that understood her. She was different from Harlow in every way. She was stronger, captain of the cheer squad and a girl that was not to be pushed around. Harlow knew she could tell Lara everything, but this time she couldn't even look her own friend in the eye and tell her the truth.

The pathetic truth.

Harlow's silence was enough for Lara to know she wasn't ready to speak on it.

"Alright but I know already, it was him who hit you isn't right?", she questioned with a look of disgust as she said the word him. Harlow gave her a brief glance but looked away before they could make eye contact.

"Well word in school is that he's already fucking some girl, you let him treat you so bad and I swear he makes me so fucking sick he will fuck any- ", Lara spat but quickly stopped once she realised Harlow's quivering lips.

Harlow felt sick, so sick.

Lara quickly put her arms out and patted Harlow's back as comfort with a look of pity across her face.
Nearly everyone at school had given her that face of pity and now Harlow couldn't stand that her own friend was doing it too. Harlow slammed her locker making everyone stare once again and ran down the halls as Lara's shouts drowned out in the background.

That was the second time her heart broke.

Not just because of Vincent but at the words Lara spoke. Harlow knew there was truth behind her harsh words because the truth of the matter was that Vincent would sleep with anyone, and that's what hurt most to hear it out loud for once.
