She Could Not Teach Me

My mother taught me blue

            As she always wore it.

Darken-black was her color

            The black, her orbit.

My mother taught me red

            And showed it to me.

Through my-self

            Just behind my flesh.

My mother reached for happiness

And for its absence, sorrow came

Who knew nothing about sorrow

She could not teach me happiness.
