i give it all to you.
take your own advice
and allow you to love you
the way that you allow yourself
love everybody else.

--and still, you dare
look at me with those eyes
knowing you can not see your own beauty
yet, you retain the audacity
to cry for a butterfly.

the nerve of you
to disregard all that you are,
the wonderful person
inspiring wonderment in me,
to discover everything about the person you are becoming.

i give it all to you
to nurture your heart
and comfort your mind,
and yet you say
"i am an ugliness that only a mother could love"
as i cradle you, my precious child.
