Kate knocked on the door.
"Nothing?"
Amara shook her head. "I'm leaving tomorrow and I'm not excited."
"Honey, I'm sorry." She came in. "For what it's worth, time apart is a good thing. It's like a meal that you have to keep in the oven for a while."
"A cooking analogy from thee who doesn't cook?"
"It's what came to mind first."
