I’ve heard it said on many an occasion that there is someone for everyone in this world, if this is true how can the world’s population be anything other than a constant even number

Since mankind first started to comprehend the world around him he has asked questions of it, some we have answered beyond doubt, some we haven’t, and yet after all this time and with the might of our technology one question still eludes us. Why are we here? Since the earliest civilisations began we have followed, preyed and sacrificed all in the names of many different Gods, even today in the 21st century of the reign of men wars are fought over the name, ideology, image and place of a God. In some parts of the world some communities turn their back on technology whilst others embrace it believing it will bring them closer to their God. But as time passes more people are turning their back on the idea of an almighty deity, denying the existence of an all-powerful, all knowing, wrathful and yet forgiving being. How can there be such a god in the face of mankind’s relentless drive to kill and destroy himself the planet we live on and the animals we share it with. But all of mankinds efforts of destruction pale into insignificance against the might of nature as it continues to wipe whole cities aside with frightening ease by the use of water, air and the very ground we stand upon. But these are nothing when compared to its most frightening and devastating weapons of all, illness and disease. Maybe these acts are not nature, maybe these are acts of a God showing us, reminding us who is the strongest. Maybe because of our technology and arrogance we have lost the ability to listen and understand. Could it be that the Scholars of a millennia ago had skills that allowed them to translate the word of God and that we have simply forgotten these skills as we have turned our backs, too proud and overconfident of our own accomplishments?  So the question is this, are these disasters warnings in response to our own self destruction and apathy towards life, is there an omnipotent being watching us, guiding us and punishing us? And if there is such a being has it finally lost its patience with mankind, have we once again plucked the apple from the tree? And if indeed this line of thinking is correct what are the consequences to be?
