To comfort
to hold out arms without question

offer a place to nest         rest a
muzzy head.
Light touch with tender fingertips         ten--- ten---tent-a-tive-ly
                                                                                                    quest
                                           and    if
                                        the other does not

object
then lay warm palms on back
small wings
that feather shoulder blades.

Close
          eyes
count heartbeats and         wait         for sighed         sur--rend--er rendered
to the gentlest         of ex--hal--a--tions
        -   -   -   -   -
there
        there
there - pieta down to genuflecting kiss
                                                             crown
                                                of head.
Tell        me.

what will make you         feel better         what
        can I

what         would I
                               not do
to comfort
          you?
