Henry and Lucas were bent over the body of the 19 year old, trying to remove a fiberglass shard from his skull, when Jo came into the lab, walking hurriedly toward him. Upon seeing her, he pulled off his gloves and asked Lucas to continue the extraction.

"Detective, what's wrong?"

She said nothing, grabbing his wrist and tugging him toward the exit. She didn't even notice the fact that he tried to stop repeatedly.

"Elevator. Now."

"But my shift isn't-"

"Reece'll cut you a free pass. She knows." Jo pulled him into he elevator and Henry stared at her, trying to process what she was telling him.

"Knows..... What?"

"Look, I'm sorry to tell you this...... The antique shop was robbed about ten minutes ago. Abe was shot-"

"What?!? Where is he?!" Henry kicked the elevator door as the mechanism began sliding down, and felt anger take hold on his brain. Whoever had done this would pay for-

"Hey, hey, hey, calm down, it was a couple shots, one on his arm and another in the flesh of his calf." She said, putting a hand on his shoulder. Relief surged through him and he sagged against the frame, staring at the ceiling.

"Is he hurt bad?"

"No, thank God. He wanted see you in the hospital." Jo whispered, as the upper panel pinged. The doors slid open, and Henry immediately started for the building entrance, determined to see his son. He wished he had a way to contact Adam. The next time he saw the man, he'd pound the.......

Jo's phone rang and she pulled it from her pocket. She put it to her head and seemed taken aback by whoever was on the other end. Henry felt kind of shocked when she handed it to him and said "He.... Says it's for you."

Yes?

Well, now, Henry. Did you head my warning?

You bastard! You-

So tell me, how fares the son? Any new aches and pains?

I told you not to bring him into this!

You did.

Excuse me? You dare accuse me of harming my own-

"Henry, you alright? Don't hold the phone so hard; It'll break!" Jo exclaimed, patting his arm. He listened and relaxed his grip trying to breathe evenly through his nose and not his mouth, as Abraham said he had a habitpf doing when he was angry.

Ooh, she sounded annoyed. Don't break the phone, Henry.

You-You..... I'll find you, Adam. You are the most vindictive

No need for insults. We have all the time in the world for that. Now you be a good boh and hand her back the phone. Goodbye, Henry.

He held the phone away from his face, and red descended his vision. Angry that Adam had escaped his grasp and may as well have wielded the gun in Abraham's shooting, he hurled it onto the lab floor as hard as he could.

The shatter caught the attention of everyone in the room and Jo stared at him, mouth open.

"That..... That was my...... Are you some kind of idiot?!" She demanded, gesturing wildly at the floor. Henry glared at the ground and tried not to meat her gaze. He was well aware of what he'd done, and had no intention of allowing Adam to reach him again. If he was the only cursed man in the world, so be it, but damn it, Adam had torn his life apart piece by piece. Without warning, Jo stopped forward and punched him in the jaw. Pain exploded and crackling filled his ears. Something clicked and some kind of fury engulfed his mind, pure animalistic rage at what had been done to him, been done to Abraham. He missed Abigail, cursed his birth by the very ancestors of the Earth! So, Henry did the thing that seemed most logical at the time.
