I woke up Sunday morning with a a sore wrist and a strange pain in my shoulders. I suspected it could have just been me sleeping weirdly. I always manage to wake up with the weirdest aches. I got up and stretched, making my sore muscles feel better in the process. I looked down at it and saw a small black bump.

"Hm." I mumbled.

Rummaging through my closet, I finally chose blue leggings and a grey oversized sweater. I kept my feet bare besides my fuzzy turquoise socks. I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and hair, pulling my waist length hair into its usual spot on top of my head.

Today my dad left me some pancakes with a side of buttered toast. I ate heartily because I once you try my dad's legendary golden pancakes, you never want to stop eating them.

"Hey Al," He said, coming down the stairs. I had just finished eating and was washing up my plate.

"Hey," I replied.

"Soo.."

"Soo.." He looked like he wanted to say something, but couldn't manage to say it.

"What?" He said, noticing me staring.

"Spit it out," I said.

"Well... What was your dream last night?"

"I...um," I frantically searched my mind trying to find an answer. I always remember. I don't even know the last time I forgot a dream. "I-I dunno." He looked as surprised as I was.

"Well whatever it was, it sounded pretty intense," he said.

"What do you mean it 'sounded pretty intense?'"I air quoted the last few words.

"I mean you were grunting and screaming in your sleep."

---------------------------------------------------

Monday morning was as normal as normal could be. I woke up, on time, had eaten and was ready, on time, and got to school exactly five minutes before the bell rang.

"Today class, we will be starting a new chapter called 'The History of Enon,'" we all sighed. "Please open your text books to page 162." We pulled out our textbooks, quickly flipping to the right page.

I suddenly felt a twinge in my wrist. I looked down to see a small circle shaped marking on the inside of my left wrist.

"Strange," I thought. "Must have been from last night."

I tuned back in to Mrs. McConnel's lecture. The Enonian history was the one thing I actually listened too. I wasn't surprised to see Alexa drawing instead of listening. They had affected her so much.

I heard a clang and looked over to Alexa. She had banged her knee in the desk. I looked down, trying hard not to giggle. Mrs. McConnel turned back for a second, but quickly turned back to her diagram of the Societies achievements of whatever.

Then the bell rang, and we all rushed outside for lunch. Today they served cheeseburgers with BBQ sauce with a side of tater tots. I grabbed the BBQ burger, but not the tater tots. Though our school might have pretty good lunches, their tater tots always taste like burnt toast.

When Alexa walked over, bowl of rice in hand, she looked a bit unsettled, but was trying to hide it. She looked around and started eating her soy sauce covered rice as I chomped down on my delicious burger.

"Hey, stop getting rice on my brownie!" Sarah said to Alexa. Alexa started scooting away from her by scooting closer to me. I gave her a look that screamed "oh don't you even DARE get anything my burger." I think she got the message because she leaned her fork full of rice into the middle of our small circle.

"Man, it's cold today." Josh said, changing the subject. Sarah just looked at him.

"It's 84 degrees out Josh!" She screamed.

"Which is a lot colder than 112!"

"Point taken."

"DANG IT!!" Alexa screamed, looking down at her now empty bowl is rice. "I love rice." She put the bowl in her backpack, and I could hear a chuckle from Josh. She just stuck out her tongue at him and grabbed her journal, writing in it about something.

"What's the problem?" Sarah said to Alexa. She has really good eyes for when something isn't right.

"What do mean?" Alexa said, obviously trying to avoid the subject.

"You just have that look in your eyes that tells me something happened."

"Not to mention the fact that you're furiously scribbling in that notebook of your's." Josh but in. Sarah gave him a glare and he backed off with his hands up.

Just then the bell rang. I noticed a look of relief on Alexa's face as she threw away her trash and started heading back to class. I decided I would call her later. Wait a minute...

"Hey. You have a phone, right."

"Yeahhh..."

"Great! Give me your number." I said pulling out a sticky note and a pen.

"949-636-9667." She said.

"949?"

"Yeah, I moved here from Lumenai, remember?"

"Gotcha."

"Don't call me past 11 o'clock though. I'm not usually near my phone." She added. She bolted off towards the building.

I chased Alexa, wondering why she wouldn't have her phone with her at specifically "11 o'clock." It's weird enough to not have her phone with her at any point. I continued to chase her until we got to the class room.

As I walked through the door, I suddenly felt a searing pain in my wrist, collapsing through the door way. It stopped within a few seconds, but was still sore.

"Alana!" Alexa shouted. She helped me up towards the sink to put some cold water on my wrist.

"What is this?" She said, pointing to the marking in my wrist. She looked confused.

"It's just something that showed up yesterday."

"Weird..." She stared at it, not even blinking, barely daring to breathe. She suddenly bit her lip before relaxing again. She just continued to stare.

"Hello? Anyone home?" I waved my hand in front of her face.

"Sorry," She replied and blinked.

"You feeling better now?" She asked.

"Yeah..." I replied. I could imagine the look of confusion painted on my face. There's just something about her I could never understand.

Alexa's POV

I had my head on my pillow, my eyes rolling back in my head. So peaceful...

BUZZ BUZZ.

I groaned and took a look at my phone. "11:00" it said. I got out of bed, in the same clothes I was wearing earlier, blue long sleeve shirt, black jeans, and black converse. I left my phone on my bed, grabbed my bag, and climbed out my window. I looked around and started running to the forest.
