So much falls into place
With being aesthetic
So much conflict
And too much curiosity
.
The adolescent ponder too often
About her features,
And why they aren't her own.

As to why boys will without a doubt
Chase that one,
But won't give the one right in front
A morsel of time.
.
Why the nature of themselves
Makes an iris colorful,
While a brother's is dull.
Why is it this way?

The issue concerning teens
Is the simple thought
Of not reaching...
.
Reaching the high set expectation of society
The obligation to stand out
Or the need to prove themselves
Why? Why... when there are plenty that adore you whilst not being plastic?

A little redness on your skin,
A little thicker hair,
Too many freckles,
A birthmark too visible...
.
None of this applies
Beauty isn't your appearance
Or the latest clothing
It's your hearts way of saying, "this is me."
