For a while I was having a hard time opening my eyes, but when I did everything was blurry and sounds where out of tune. “Ahh Xavier I’m glad you’re awake” a voice said. Where was I? I couldn’t remember much everything felt like a dream. I tried to sit up but I felt dizzy and lay back down. “You’re going to be okay, I just need you to answer some questions for me” the voice continued. “How did you manage to make it through the city on your own?”

“Well, I ran”

“Is that so? And do you remember what happened to you?”

“Yes, I was stuck in the arm by one of the druids.”

The doctor looked at me shaking his head, “No son, there are no puncture wounds on your arm”

I sat up and gazed at my arm running my hand across the surface. How could this be possible I thought to myself?  Even though my head was fuzzy I swear I was stabbed.  “Well you’re free to go after signing some papers” the doc said. I nodded my head filled out the papers and left.

I stepped out of the hospital into a bright and beautiful day, this was nothing like the horror I had just went through, Grenfell still seems untouched from the druid’s wrath. Everyone was bustling around the city in joy and peace, SSF troops where rallied along the roads. “Xavier!” I heard someone shout. I looked in the distance and I could see two people running towards me, as they came closer I could make out who they were, it was Cloud and Sin Lee. They were both old friends I visited every summer and went to youth SSF academy with. Cloud and I go way back I guess you could say I use to have a crush on her, and for Sin Lee he was my best friend. Cloud ran up and gave me a hug while Sin Lee stopped and caught his breath.

“I’m so glad you’re okay!” Cloud stated.

“I can’t believe you were attacked by druids, was it scary?” Sin Lee questioned

“Well, it seems I may have not been attacked and just fainted” I said

“I remember the druid doing something to my arm but look, nothing there”

They both stared at it for a moment. I couldn’t help but stare at cloud, I mean her beauty seemed to overwhelm me more each summer I saw her. We started walking down main St.

“So how has the academy been going guys?” I asked

“I don’t know maybe you should ask cloud she’s been promoted to senior classes.” Sin Lee stated

“Really that’s incredible!” I said

Cloud started to blush; she had been promoted to senior statues in the academy meaning she was just a few weeks from becoming a full-fledged SSF. I couldn’t help but feel a sadness come over me, I mean after what I saw, all the SSF troops giving their lives to defend Glenhaven. I hoped cloud would never be called upon to take forth such a task.

“Come on Xavier, you can stay with me tonight what do you say?” Sin Lee asked

“Of course just like old time” I proclaimed.

We headed to Sin Lee’s house and said our farewells to cloud, I was exhausted and my right arm was filling a bit numb. I told Sin lee I would speak with him tomorrow I needed to get some rest. I headed upstairs to the guest room and fell asleep.

I woke up with my whole right arm tingling, it wasn’t in pain or anything just tingling. I headed downstairs to see Sin Lee. “Xavier I haven’t seen you in such a long time come give me a hug” Ms. Lee said. I walked over to Ms. Lee and hugged her. “Where’s Sin Lee?” I asked

“At the academy, he’ll be back by five.”

“Well since I have so much time on my hand I’m going to go on a walk”

“Okay be careful dear”

I headed out the door and down the street. The truth was I needed this walk to think, I mean what’s going on I know I was stabbed by that damn druid. I checked my arm again to reassure that yes I was going insane. Honestly nothing was making since anymore and my arm was still tingling, it almost felt as if I had hit my funny bone. I had come to the woods Sin Lee and I use to play in as kids. I entered and found the old stump we use to make base in games of hide and seek, I sat down. I was pondering on everything that had happened nothing seemed to add up. All I know is I had this weird feeling in my arm that wouldn’t go away.

I could remember being in the basement, running down willow street and seeing SSF troops, and then seeing the subway. And then, my legs started shaking again as I remembered the druid. I could picture what he looked like in my head, tall and alien looking with long sharp nails and a tail, very hideous. The image of the druid stayed in my mind and the more I thought about it the more my arm tingled. I was sweating by now and trembling with the thought of the druid. My arm started shaking uncontrollably; I lifted it to try to stop the motion. Just then I felt a great surge shoot threw my arm that sent a wave of something that disintegrated everything within 20 feet of me. I stared shockingly at the damage dealt, what had I done?
