Chapter 4

~ Rebekah's POV

We drove for about 5 minutes down streets I wasn't familiar with when I finally couldn't stand it anymore. "Where are we going? And don't give me any of that surprise talk." I spoke out into the quiet as Flynn was too busy staring out the window.

Derek gave me his attention for about two seconds before he looked back to the streets mumbling under his breath. "You're no fun", he replied scrunching his nose up making him look adorable. Rolling my eyes I huffed in my seat.

We drove for a further 25 minutes when Derek finally pulled into a parking lot that still didn't seem to give away the destination although the place seemed familiar. After turning the ignition off I sent him a questioning gaze but he didn't seem to give off anything so I sighed and looked back at Flynn who was fiddling with his belt. Returning my stare back to the driver's seat, I found it empty and instead found Derek running round the front of the bonnet before reaching my side and wrenching the door open.

Always the gentlemen.

I couldn't help but compare him to Christian. Sure he was sweet in his own way but he just wasn't Derek. Sending him an appreciative smile which must have caught him off guard I then made my way to the back seat and helped Flynn out.

Once I got him in my hands and pulled him out, he began to struggle with me making me lose my balance. Oh no. Not this again. Just as I swallowed attempting to regain my balance, I felt hands settle on my waist almost immediately holding me steady and making me also stiffen in surprise.

I cracked a smile as Derek sent a joking scowl in Flynn's direction as if it was all his fault. Instead Flynn just stared back at us both expectantly. "Right, this way," Derek then clutched Flynn' little fist whilst I also felt one of hands still settled on my waist. I didn't even know if he was aware of it but I just couldnt help but stay silent.

It was almost like I was afraid I would feel empty if he left my side. Once again I could feel that pit of guilt churning inside waiting to take over but I pushed it away trying to convince myself it was nothing big.

I really needed to talk to Christian fast. I knew I was going to apologize but what was making me so confused was whether I would apologize to ask him to take him back or if it was time to end it. I still liked Christian. He was a great person in heart which was one of the reasons why I began to date him.

But now, with recent situations, I couldn't help but rethink. I knew by a long mile, Derek and I together was the best thing for Flynn but the way we went about this just fought against all my moral values. Something I held high in my eyes especially if I wanted to be a good role model in Flynn's eyes. Peeking a glance at Derek I noticed a satisfied smile grazing his face and a similar one on Flynn' face.

Could I really give this up? Of course not. For so long I felt like something was missing and now being held by Derek and spending time with Flynn at the same time felt like that hole was slowly growing smaller. Brushing off my thoughts, I decided today I was going to enjoy myself. Right after I find out where we were.

After walking around a corner, memories began to return as both Flynn and I looked at the large sign that spelt, Welcome To The Zoo! Of course Derek would bring us here. It was both the perfect outing choice and a place that Flynn would be distracted by before we head to lunch. Biting my lip at how wonderful everything was going, I began to shuffle through my bag in search of my wallet as I caught sight of the entrance up ahead but Derek beat me to it, already holding out a $50 note to the bored looking teenager much to my dismay.
