*Flashback*

I rode on my bike down the street when a five-year-old Josh ran out in front of me. "Watch where you're going, kid!" I was a terrifying five-year-old.

He jutted out his bottom lip and his eyes started watering. "I'm sorry."

I climbed off of my bike. "Don't cry, kid."

He wiped his nose on his sleeve. He looked up at me with those blue eyes.

"What's your name, kid?"

"I'm Josh."

"I'm Michelle, but most people call me Mickey."

"Mickey, dinner time!" My mother called.

"I'll see you around, Josh."

"Bye Mickey."

*Present*

That was eleven years ago.

We're best friends and in high school now.

One Saturday afternoon, I skipped happily down to Josh's house. He was laying in his front yard.

"Hey, kid."

He sat up. "Hey, Mickey."

"You look different."

He smiled and nodded his head.

"Holy crap, you dyed your hair black!?"

"Yea. Do you like it?"

"You look like a vampire. I miss the blond. Change it back."

"It's irreversible, Mick."

"It makes you look so pale, kid."

"Eleven years, and you're still referring to me as 'kid'?"

"Why would I stop? That's the first thing I called you when I met you."

"Don't make me call you by your full first name!"

"You wouldn't!"

"Michelle!"

"Joshua!"

He gasped dramatically, "Take that back! Michelle Taylor!"

"Joshua Keeler!"

"Why are we doing this again."

"Because I called you kid, that's why."

"This is completely pointless."

"I know," I moved from where I was standing and sat next to him, "but we don't have anything real to fight about. A healthy relationship needs a fight every once in a while."

I looked into those blue eyes that had drawn me in since day one.

We subconsciously started moving toward each other, like in those cheesy romance movies.

"Josh..."

"Shh."

He pressed his lips to mine.

That was the first kiss we ever shared.

That...was the kiss that started it all.
