Chapter 2

My brother sat with my in the car. For the first ten minutes, we asked all the questions any normal person would. What happened? Why did we have to leave? Where are we going? When we finally realized that we weren’t going to get any answers, we decided to make the best of the situation. In our books, that meant catch up on as much sleep as you can. I don’t know how long I slept, but it didn’t seem like long before I was woken up. I looked around our destination, and finally realized where we were. We were at the House of the Council. I was about to start asking questions when my door snapped open and I was jerked out of the car. Someone threw me into a room and locked the door. I tried my best to open it, but there was no way it would ever budge. I looked around the room I’d been shoved into. Not five minutes went by before the door was opened again. Instead of some rude person standing there, I saw my mom. I ran to her.

“Oh thank goodness you got here safely!” She ran her hands over me just to double checking. I stepped out of her arms.

“Mom, what’s going on? Why did we have to leave? I have to miss graduation!!” Mom froze. She didn’t answer.

“You’ll have to wait for your father” she said softly. “I can’t say anything without permission from the Alpha.” I stared at her. What? Why was the Alpha keeping secrets from the rest of the pack?

“You should get changed.” Mom interrupted my thoughts. “Make sure you look nice. There will be a lot of important people here tonight.” She left then closing and locking the door behind her. I walked over to the bathroom and slammed the door shut. What the hack was going on, and why was everyone in the dark?  I threw myself into the shower just wanting to get to relax after this whole ordeal. Once I got out of the shower, I saw that someone had laid some clothes out for me on the bed. I quickly got dressed and took a peek out the window before heading downstairs. Holy crap!! No wonder Mom told me to dress nice! It seemed that every single pack had sent an Alpha or Beta to discuss this morning’s events. I ran down to the dining hall needing to know what had caused such a commotion.

I ran into Mom and Dad, but the looks on their faces told me that I should keep quiet. I went and took my seat between my mother and brother. I could tell he was just as curious as I was, but we both knew to keep it to ourselves. We watched as all of the other guests filled the hall. When the last person had taken their seat, the head of the council stood and spoke.

“I’m sure you are all wondering why you have been called here.” No shit Sherlock. “I am pleased to tell you that we can now give you all of your answers. It seems that the rouges have put together their own sort of pack and are attacking and taking over any pack that they come across. About a year or so, we started to see the signs of their attacks . . .”

“Then why are we only hearing of this now?” one Beta spoke out. “If this started a year ago, then we should’ve heard of it then. We could have prevented some of the attacks!”

“I assure you, we did not think that it would get to be this bad. We notified a few Alphas and Betas, and we thought that it would be enough to hold them at bay, but we were wrong. Terribly, terribly wrong. They are much stronger than we ever anticipated.” He paused for what seemed like forever. “They have taken over every single pack in the east coast.”

There were gasps heard from everyone. I swear my mother almost fainted. Somehow, I had a feeling that this wasn’t the worst news he had to share.
