January,

We write to invoke emotion in our readers. We can we touch the lives of others, if even for a moment. Can you think of anything more beautiful than bringing someone into a new world, your world, and sharing that with them?

I can't.

We write because it gives us power over things we usually can't control. Life, death. The weather. Series of events and their consequences. With sweaty palms we grasp at everyday life, struggling to hold on, struggling to keep up. A world created by you waits for you, and that can be a relief when reality leaves you in the dust.

There are as many reasons to write as there are to do anything. I just hope you find yours.

Yours truly,

Pete
