Thunderclan had flourished ever since Bluestar became the leader and made the clan more prosporous than a self-medicated binge eater who burps so much that everyone thinks they have foul breath.
But things were not going to be problem-free indefinitely because if that were the case this book would not need to be written (or it would be delightfully boring). The problem in this case had been something that was lurking in the cats' lore since the dawn of time and had only begun to make itself known now.
Legend had it that when the very first clans were formed they each donated a strand of enchanted year to a single ball of yarn as a sign of good will. But when the wars began between the clans the goodwill had been broken and the enchanted ball of yarn that had kept them all safe became forgotten and ultimately lost.
Now Bluestar decided that getting the enchanted ball of yarn would be the wayt to unite the clans and stop the wars, but others wanted it for more devious reasons!
