Robert de Standon: Northumberland and County Durham: TNA E 358/18 rot. 6 dorse

[In the Exchequer rolls, this account follows the account for Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, first four months. Robert de Standon accounts for the Templars' estates in Northumberland, 11 January 1308–29 September 1308, and from 29 September 1308 to 16 November 1308, when he handed the property to Guychard de Charrons. The estates included the property around Thornton but also some rents from land close to the Anglo-Scottish border. These accounts also include some rents from properties in County Durham. The inventory of 'dead stock' produced at the end of Robert's tenure of the estate includes a reference to chests which held the Templars' charters and other documents. These documents are now lost, but the account confirms that the Templars did keep their records and tried to preserve them safely.]
